Cancer Scare
A few years ago, Tarek found out he had thyroid cancer because a viewer who happened to be a nurse emailed the show’s producers saying she was concerned about a lump on his neck. She ended up saving his life!
Baby Making
The couple were pregnant with a second child, a boy, during the fifth season of Flip or Flop. They also have a daughter together, named Taylor.
Tarek Started Young
Tarek got his real estate license when he was only 21. It’s amazing to see how quickly he made a name for himself.
They’re Smart Investors
The couple funds their Flip or Flop purchases through money they’ve made on past investment homes (not through the salary they receive from HGTV), as The Orange County Register reported.
They Co-Own a Company
Tarek and Christina not only appear on Flip or Flop but also co-own a real estate agency together, called Tarek and Christina: The El Moussa Group.
They Work Hard
Tarek and Christina weren’t always successful home flippers, according to The Orange County Register. Back in 2008 when a deep recession hit the U.S., the couple lost a ton of money. In an attempt to get back into the black, they traded their $6,000 a month mortgage for a $700 per month rental apartment (all while Christina was pregnant with Taylor).
They Aren’t Just Flippers
Tarek and Christina are writing a book called Flip your Life, and are hoping to get it published.
Had One of Their Cars Stolen
Outside of one of their many flips, their car was stolen. The car was eventually recovered and they ended up selling it to one of their employees. We all love a happy ending!
Tarek Loves the Thrill of Real Estate
He once told real estate wealth magazine in 2014, that he “enjoyed the chase of properties and the design and transformation at the end.”
TV Wasn’t Always On The Table
Turns out, the now famous duo never had plans to take over television with their property flipping, but boy, are we happy they did. In fact, their demo tape was a reel of them tackling their first project. Tarek has even said that appearing on camera is “nerve-racking.”

The pair are health nuts and regularly post photos of the healthy foods they eat. When they moved into their latest house, they even installed an incredible gym so they could make time to workout between filming.
Part of the HGTV Fam
Tarek and Christina once guest judged on Brother vs. Brother with HGTV stars Jonathon and Drew Scott.
Brayden James
Their youngest child, Brayden, was born on August 20th, 2015.
Family of Four
Even though Tarek and Christina separated and filed for divorce earlier this year, they are still committed to raising their kids together, as well as continuing to work on Flip or Flop.
