She’s tackled cookie cutter builds and due-any-day-now baby nurseries, but in our latest transformation from Jacquelyn Clark, she takes on a 100-year-old home in major need of a modern makeover. See how Jacquelyn brought this young couple’s home into the 21st Century, while still honouring its turn-of-the-century roots.

Project: Augusta
Project: Augusta, as Jacquelyn coined it, came with a few caveats. This 100-year-old home needed to reflect the young couple living in it, while still honouring the beautiful, original finishes. It had also just been painted (thankfully Jacquelyn loved the colour) and came with a white leather couch that the clients didn’t want to replace. With a colour palette to jump off from, and an open mind, Jacquelyn set out to create a cozy living room with an open concept kitchen to match.
Project: Augusta
The bones of the living room reflect the home’s age, so Jacquelyn relied on furniture. accessories and textiles to liven and modernize the room. Here, the gorgeous exposed brick fireplace contrasts beautifully with the indigo rug from Pottery Barn.
Project: Augusta
With the rug as a base, a mix of modern prints on a scale from light grey to deep navy blue were layered onto the room. And that white leather couch that came with the project is the perfect backdrop for the mix of prints.

Jacquelyn placed a Pottery Barn console table behind the couch and artfully filled it with books, objects and photos. She made sure not to clutter the shelves, to keep the area looking clean and calm, but this vignette brings personality and warmth to the room.
Project: Augusta
Jacquelyn’s attention to detail drills right down to the books on the shelves. Spines in soft pink, cream and white, with black print, look right at home in this dreamy living room.

A dramatic chandelier in dark bronze helps to anchor the feminine room, and hearkens back to the home’s original look and feel. If there’s one thing Jacquelyn proves time and time again, it’s the power of the perfect light fixture!
Project: Augusta
Jacquelyn is a master of styling! She clusters objects in threes, and tops almost every surface with a cluster of fresh blooms, bringing rooms to life, and making them utterly inviting.
Project: Augusta
The home’s original hardware and crown moulding were left untouched. While the goal of the project was to bring the home up to speed, Jacquelyn ensured its heritage wasn’t completely abandoned, and instead helps balance the modern furniture and decor.

Coffee table must-haves are all covered: candles, coasters and fresh flowers!
Project: Augusta
Styling a coffee table is one of those seemingly easy tasks but never quite turns out as planned. Small decor items can get lost and appear as clutter, while bigger items take up too much space and leave guests unsure where to place their drinks! By clustering smaller items on a decorative tray, Jacquelyn creates purpose and style.

Jacquelyn also took on the couple’s open concept kitchen, and gave it a fresh, industrial look with a butcher block countertop and open shelves.
Project: Augusta
There’s nothing like an open shelf to give a kitchen a gourmet feel (regardless of the empty takeout containers piling up in the recycling bin).
Project: Augusta
To balance the stainless steel shelves and white appliances, Jacquelyn mixed in wood cutting boards and bowls, and a glassware for an eclectic look.

Jacquelyn sourced this exceptional lantern for the kitchen from Pottery Barn.
