Christina and Tarek El Moussa have tackled some pretty gnarly renovation projects over the years, from run-down shacks and bungalows to multi-level fixer uppers with years of dust. Given how many homes they’ve flipped into beautiful new properties it’s hard to narrow down all of the very best room transformations, but here are some of our favourites.

An Open Concept, Shiplap Finish
We love the lofty feel of this new open-concept area, with its modern finishes and beautiful wood accents. The open stairs are a real focal point in the middle of the space, while the hardwood below is further enhanced by the gorgeous barn board finish on top of the modern fireplace. Neutral colours and sturdy pieces of furniture complete the look.
A Bright and Open Walkout
It can be hard to transform a space while keeping some of the home’s original integrity intact, but by keeping the structure of the fireplace it creates a focal point in this newly designed living room. The look is rounded out by four oversized armchairs and a two-tiered, modern coffee table, with a dark area rug underneath pulling it all together.
Building Out The Structure
In this living room redesign Christina and Tarek also maintained the original home’s fireplace, but built it out with a fresh new mantel and tied it into the rest of the design with some pretty new trim. Meanwhile, updated hardwood floors and some softer florals give this space a unique vibe, with enlarged windows allowing maximum sunlight to enter the room.
Modern Realizations
The bold patterns on the toss cushions and area rug really draw the eye, and play nicely off the updated mantel with its oversized bricks. A modern coffee table and some white furniture complete the look.
Exposed Ceilings
The pretty slope of the ceiling in this living room gives automatic character and charm to the space. The painted, exposed beams really draw the eye and creates a calming effect, something that’s further enhanced by the greens and florals below. New hardwood and a beautiful picture window with a gorgeous view pull it all together.
An Extended Kitchen
While most homeowners these days covet an open-concept look, structure and design don’t always go hand-in-hand. Christina and Tarek worked around that problem with this semi-exposed kitchen, opening up the space and creating an interesting design that you don’t see in most homes.
An Updated Galley Kitchen
Narrow galley kitchens can be a hard sell in today’s market, but when you’ve got one that’s as clean and streamlined as this one, suddenly the lack of an open concept doesn’t seem so bad. The beautiful blue subway tile backsplash adds a luxurious and modern update, while the upgraded cabinets and hardware add tons of storage space. Updated stainless steel appliances and a large, matching basin sink tie it all together.
Simple Finishes
This galley kitchen has been polished off with high-end finishes like the marbled countertops and rich hardwood floors. We love the simplicity of the look, from the white subway tile backsplash to the pot lights and extended cabinets throughout.
A Regal Bathroom
Most bathrooms these days are white and beach-inspired, but there’s something to be said about an updated, classic look. From the stone tiles and the dark cabinets to the brick backsplash and antique faucets, this is a rich, nuanced room with plenty of high-end finishes.
An Extended Shower
It’s hard not to fall in love with this gorgeous, extended shower that’s big enough for a whole family to fit into. The pretty backsplash is a combination of subway tiles and geometric design, while the dual shower heads ensure that water is coming at you from all angles. Now that’s a bathroom we can get behind.
A Pretty New Bedroom
When it comes to bedrooms, we love a nice feature wall over the headboard. But who says that a feature wall can’t incorporate the window? This layout ensures that there’s no wasted space in the smaller area, making more room for complimentary night tables and some decor. A pretty blue, paisley bedspread instantly brightens it all up, while plenty of toss cushions add instant coziness.
Hosting Your Guests
This guest bedroom may be small, but it sure is mighty. A fresh coat of paint on the walls and updated trim allow the new hardwood floors to really pop, while a single bed with a contemporary night table give the space function without ever feeling crammed.
A Backyard With a View
This gorgeous, California style ranch house is beautiful inside, but we can’t help but fall in love with this updated backyard. Complete with a pool, an updated deck and plenty of finishes for entertaining the perfect party, this is an enviable space we’d love to get our hands on.
Outdoor Dining
Who wouldn’t want to eat out under the stars and beside their very own personal waterfall? We certainly wouldn’t mind. Brand new, enlarged patio stones, a built-in barbecue centre and the aforementioned water feature all add up to one of the most beautiful outdoor entertaining spaces we’ve ever seen. And did we mention there’s a TV?!
A Personal Spa
Some backyards aren’t big enough for an entire pool, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be creative and beautiful. Christina and Tarek proved that with this gorgeous hot tub, complete with a custom wood finish atop a unique landscaping feature that really draws the eye. How could the homeowners not spend all of their time outdoors with a setup like this?
