There are few father-son duos on television that make our hearts happy the way Mike Holmes and Mike Holmes Jr. do. Between their mastery of all things renovation and construction, their easygoing attitudes and their always solid bond, it’s no wonder we love watching them every week on Holmes and Holmes. Need a few more reasons why these two are so adorable together? We’ve got plenty. By Amber Dowling.

Their Stellar Communication
Really, these two only need very little words in order to exchange thoughts and ideas. We mean… just look at how easily they sync up.
Their Canadian Roots
These two are the first to reach out to American friends with well wishes, but in their hearts they’re Canadians through and through.
Those Idiosyncrasies
See how Mike Senior is laughing and holding his eye with his left hand? And in the background Mike Junior is doing the exact same thing? Exactly. Adorable.
Their Blue Steels
Obviously Mike Senior perfected the crossed-arm gaze first, but he taught his son the same move. Very, very well we might add. Now they’re practically twins.
Like Father, Like Son
Even behind the scenes when they think no one is watching, this father-son duo are all about the dual body language. It’s too perfect.
Bringing the Blues
We’re not usually fans of the matching look, but when these two do it it’s actually extra endearing. But of course.
They Way They Settle An Argument
Father may know best, but Senior isn’t against letting Junior win an argument fair and square… with a good old fashioned game of Rock, Paper, Scissors of course.
Standing Still
Mike Junior may be a little bit taller than his pops, but we love how he has to drive the point home by making himself that extra bit taller every chance he gets.
The Get-Along Gang
Spending long hours in between takes on a reality show can get tiring… but not if you have your pops with you. This may as well be another Sunday afternoon on the couch, the way these two are chilling, and not the set trailer.
One Thumb Up
We kind of love this classic pose by each party. It shows the generation gap between father and son but also makes us want to give them a big old hug for the love they clearly have for each other.
Embracing the Cheese
Also cute as heck? When your son pins a birthday pin on you to celebrate your big day. That’s right, even muscly contractors have a soft side, guys. (And it usually involves cake.)
Jamming Out
Okay, so this is actually a shot of the duo recording some spots for their show and not a new song. Still, they look so at ease here that we could easily picture them busting out a lyric or two together.
Vest Buddies
There are almost no words for this amazing display, which we would expect from two college buddies and not necessarily a father and son duo. Is this what the male equivalent of The Gilmore Girls would look like?
Oh-So-Chill
Mike Senior may need to supervise and lead the way given his greater experience, but it’s clear he’s also okay with letting his son take the lead every once in a while. And that’s pretty darned cool in our books.
No Axes to Grind
Finally, even when these two disagree they always know how to make up. Probably because while they work well together, they also know how to blow off steam together too. No wonder they’re pretty much the best father-son duo to ever hit up HGTV.
