This fall, we’re celebrating 25 years of HGTV. That’s 25 years of ambitious renovation plans, remarkable tear downs and life-changing reveals. To mark the quarter century of your favourite home and renovation network, we’re highlighting some of the legacy stars who have helped make it great, plus some of the newest talent on your screens that are revolutionizing design and renovations.
The OG Family of HGTV Canada
With five shows as the host (not to mention multiple guest and judge appearances), it’s impossible to recognize the last two and a half decades of HGTV Canada without a nod to home expert Bryan Baeumler and his designer wife, Sarah. Bryan’s first appearance was back in 2007 as the host of Disaster DIY. Since then, both he and Sarah have appeared on House of Bryan, Leave it to Bryan, Bryan Inc. and the fan favourite, Island of Bryan.
What’s next for Bryan? He and best buddy, Scott McGillivray have an exciting new show, Renovation Resort, coming this spring.

The Investment Expert
The money-making expert of the network has been helping homeowners with their income properties on your screens for over a decade since the premiere of Income Propertyin 2009. Since then, he’s shared his expertise (and dad jokes!) on several shows including Moving the McGillivrays, Buyers Bootcamp with Scott McGillivray and most recently, Scott’s Vacation House Rules and Scott’s Own Vacation House with co-host and designer extraordinaire Debra Salmoni.
The Titans of Renovations
Former CFL athlete turned star builder Sebastian Clovis joined the HGTV Canada family in 2014 as the host of Tackle My Reno before teaming up with boujie-on-a-budget designer Samantha Pynn to co-host Save My Reno. Sebastian is now the host (not to mention creator and executive producer) of new series, Gut Job (where you can catch Sam making an appearance, too!).

Speaking of renovations, new face to the network Mandy Rennehan has been making a splash renovating several properties in her hometown Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, all while providing mentorship to skilled apprentices on new series Trading Up With Mandy Rennehan.
Meanwhile, over in Newfoundland, Randy Spracklin and the Rock Solid Builds crew restore and renovate historic properties that showcase the east coast’s charm.

Speaking of pairs we love on our screen, we couldn’t forget the original real estate duo, Jonathan and Drew Scott. The contractor and real estate expert brothers have graced screens for over a decade, since their first hit series Property Brothers premiered in 2009. Since then, they’ve hosted several other series from Buying and Selling to Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers: Forever Home (among many).
