DIY: Personalized Notebooks

I can never have too many mini notebooks kicking around. They’re perfect for writing down my ideas and inspirations and to track my to do lists. I use them all the time, so why not make them look special by doing a little faux letterpress technique on them?

Materials:

Moleskin journal

Cardboard (a cereal box works perfectly!)

Scissors

Bone folder or end of a artist paint brush

Tape

DIY:

Untitled-1

STEP 1: Cut out the desired shape from the piece of cardboard. Simple shapes work best such as hearts, diamonds, chevrons, straight lines etc.

STEP 2: Tape the cardboard shape to the front cover of the notebook in the preferred location.

STEP 3: On the back of the front cover use the bone folder to rub the area of the cut out shape. You may have to keep flipping the cover over to make sure you are getting the correct area. This step pushes the shape forward giving it that letterpress look.

STEP 4: Remove the tape and cardboard and you’re finished!
