Is it a vase, a vahz or a lamp? Whatever you call it, turning a vase into a lamp is a fun and easy way to breathe new life into a home decor accessory. Although you can purchase a new vase for this DIY project, we recommend keeping it green by visiting your local thrift store first. Ready to get started? Here’s how to turn an old vase into a lamp in just seven easy steps.
Materials Required:
- Vase
- Painters tape
- 8mm diamond drill bit
- Drill
- Lamp kit
- Screwdriver
- Liquid cement glue
- Lampshade
- Lightbulb

Instructions:
Step One: Use painter’s tape to mark where you want your cord to be on your vase.
Step Two: Attach an 8mm diamond drill bit to the drill and create your hole. Be patient and apply gentle pressure. We recommend adding a few drops of water to the drilling area.
Step Three: Feed the cord through the hole and out the top of the vase.

Step Four: Follow the instructions for the lamp kit to wire the lamp. Tip: Test that the light is wired correctly by using a bulb and plugging it in before attaching it to the vase.
Step Five: Secure with liquid cement and tape in place. Let your lamp dry for 24 hours.
Step Six: Attach the lamp shade holder and lamp shade.
Step Seven: Plug it in and enjoy. Congratulations, you just turned a vase into a lamp!
