Pop-Up Hotels: The Future of Luxury Travel Accommodations in 2023 and Beyond

After years of putting holiday plans on hold, it’s no surprise that extraordinary travel adventures are a priority for today’s jet setters. From luxury treehouses to stunning mansions on Airbnb, we thought we’d seen it all when it comes to unique accommodations. But there’s a new hospitality trend created made for the experience-based traveller in mind: pop-up hotels.

What is a Pop-up Hotel?

Pop-up hotels are exclusive temporary overnight accommodations that offer guests an unforgettable stay in a unique location. Oftentimes, pop-up hotels are sought-after experiences for in-the-know travellers. In other words, you’ll want to reserve your room in a pop-up hotel as far in advance as possible.

Hilton’s Hole in One Hideaway

Earlier this month, Hilton and FUSE Create partnered up to create one of the most exclusive travel accommodations in the country: a one-bedroom pop-up hotel room located on the third hole of the RBC Canadian Open.

The one-bedroom pop-up hotel was built on a custom trailer system driven right onto the golf course and was made using all Canadian materials. In addition to enjoying the best views in the tournament, guests enjoyed a personal concierge, a private golf cart and meals delivered via room service.

“Hilton strives to create authentic, one-of-kind experiences that showcase our friendly and reliable hospitality in unique ways and prove it matters where you stay,” Hilton Vice President Americas Marketing Aligi Gardenghi said in a press release.

All guests that stayed at the one-bedroom pop-up hotel at the RBC Canadian Open are winners of a contest. Luckily, the same one-bedroom pop-up hotel will be at the CP Women’s Open in Ottawa later this August.

Canadian Pop-Up Hotel Experiences

Hilton’s unique accommodation for golf fans isn’t Canada’s only pop-up hotel experience. Hôtel de Glace is North America’s only ice hotel and is naturally built from the ground up each year. Guests can stay inside this pop-up-style accommodation from January to March.

Although pop-up hotel experiences are rare, we bet that we’ll see more of them in 2023. From the CNE to Calgary Stampede, there’s so much potential for the future of pop-up hotels in Canada.
