1. Paint an Accent Wall to Divide the Space
When working with a nook or corner of a room, use paint to make a wall pop. A colourful accent wall divides a space into distinct zones with different purposes. Alexandra chose a muted sage green to contrast against the deep, rich colour of the drop-leaf table.

2. Use Multifunctional Pieces That Fit in Small Spaces
Speaking of that table, Alexandra opted for IKEA’s BJURSTA wall-mounted drop-leaf table to save on space. Its table can be tucked against the wall when not in use and popped out during work hours and mealtimes. The IKEA TOSSBERG chair is the perfect companion to complete the space. It gives you the chic lines of a dining chair and the comfort you need in an office chair.

3. Rely on Storage to Create Efficient Spaces
A slim IKEA BERGSHULT shelf placed on RAMSHULT brackets above the table provides the perfect little ledge for storage. Pieces like the TJOG desk organizer and KUGGIS box with lid will keep your office and dining necessities in check. This way, you can easily clear items away and store them when not in use, and leave yourself with a clear workspace or dining table to enjoy!

4. Add Personality with Decor
Alexandra added a few finishing touches to bring personality and life to this multifunctional nook. The IKEA HOVSTA frame with a bright print brings a dose of colour to the shelf while the FEJKA eucalyptus adds gorgeous visual interest with its hanging vines. For dinnerware, Alexandra opted for the IKEA FÄRGKLAR dining plates in matte green to match her earthy accent wall, and classic SVALKA stemware for a well-deserved toast to this beautiful project!

Using multifunctional furniture, creative small storage and organization essentials from IKEA, you can turn any unused nook in your home into an inspiring home office or dining room.
