She’s a Social Media Star Known for Quick Flips
Even if you don’t know her by name, you may recognize her signature over-the-weekend home renovations from scrolling on your social media feeds. Galey’s side hustle helping families transform their homes in mere days has made her a viral sensation, amassing an impressive 2.8M followers on her TikTok channel and 1.5M on her Instagram page.
It’s All About That Reveal
Gayle’s design clients are a little different than most, she shares in a post on Instagram. “I’ve always felt instantly connected to people, even strangers I briefly interact with. I trust that this feeling allows me to connect to their needs and their home on a deeper level”, she writes. With this studied intuition, she designs each home as a complete surprise for her clients, who entrust her with their homes and credit cards, but never a design wish list. This allows her to create a big impact with each reveal being a surprise for the family.
She’s Got a Good Head (And Hat!) On Her
Part of Galey’s approach to her social media brand was to focus on creating a space that allowed her to share her vulnerability, her struggles with mental health and an eating disorder and never strive for perfection. “It’s a place where I can brag about my team… it’s a place where I can promote kindness towards animals,” she says on an episode of the Behind the BOSS podcast. “The reason why I wear a hat is because I don’t want little girls to see my social media and think they need to look a certain way. I want the focus not to be on how I look, I want it to be on what I’m creating.”

She Still Works Her Day Job in Finance
Though she had no formal education in the field, the 29-year-old was already working as an executive at Goldman Sachs before starting Galey Alix Design. When she began her renovation reveals, there was a reason for the quick turnaround — working a full-time job during the week. Today, the busy businesswoman still serves in her role as Vice President and Regional Director in addition to owning her design business and starring in the new HGTV television series, Home in a Heartbeat.
She Considers Design a Conduit to Her True Passions
It may surprise you to learn that Galey does not consider design her passion, despite her success with it. Instead, she considers it a vehicle to allow her to embrace her life’s three passions: Her dogs, falling in love and surprising people. Her home redesigns allowed her to just that, she shares. She gets to fall in love with a new family on each project, bring her dogs to the site while she works and then reveal the transformation to her happy clients (which notably have included supermodel Elle MacPherson).
Speaking of Love…
If you snoop through her social media, you may spot a face that’s familiar. Her boyfriend, Dale Moss, has also graced television screens. He’s a former NFL star and Bachelorette contestant and current model, sports and entertainment host and entrepreneur.
Galey’s Other Love? Her Dogs, Of Course
As she’ll be quick to mention, Galey is a huge dog lover, as well as a dog mom. “If I can’t do this with my dogs & a hat, I can’t do this,” she writes in an Instagram post. She credits her dogs for helping her out of her darkest times, when her need to care for them drove her.
Strike a (Yoga) Pose
Having grown up an athlete (she credits her resilient attitude to her early years as a long-distance runner), Gayle regularly practices yoga, among other sports. You can spot her impressive balance in a number of yoga poses on her social media.
She’s Open About Her Struggles
“Vulnerability has changed my life. I’ll say that unapologetically. I really hope in sharing my story, it gives people the confidence to be more vulnerable,” she shares on Behind the BOSS. To see it in her own words, watch this video she shared on Instagram detailing her struggles with mental health, an eating disorder and a life-changing breakup.
Now, She’s an Advocate for Mental Health
Gayle calls herself an “impact influencer” for a reason. She strives to go beyond the surface level with her presence and share her perspective (both the hard and the beautiful) with her audience. As someone who has experienced dark times, she focuses on staying grateful and grounded. See her story highlights for more of Gayle’s mental health advice and learnings.
