Step 1: Measure and Cut

Begin by spreading your drop cloth on your table. For the entrance, find the center of the drop cloth (where it will cover the front of the table) and cut a slit down the middle to create a roll-over door. Make sure the door is wide enough to get through.

To give it a chic finish, glue two pieces of velvet ribbon lace to the top corners of the door. These will act as ties, so you can knot the door flaps to the top, creating a stylish “open” door look. This is ideal for Halloween night!

Step 2: Make the Haunted Windows

Next, on either side of the door, measure and mark out two windows — we created a rectangular and a round one to vary the style of our haunted house. Use scissors to carefully cut the windows.

Pro tip: To elevate the look and give your haunted house a polished feel, glue velvet ribbon lace around the edges of each window using a hot glue gun.

Step 3: Add the Spooky Decor

It’s time to make your cubby extra spooky (the FUN part!). Drape fake spiderwebs over the windows and the doorway, securing them with small dots of hot glue in the back. Add velvet spiders on your spiderwebs, ensuring they stick.

For an extra spooky vibe, glue small ghost decorations around the windows — having them peeking out as if they are haunting the house!

Meanwhile, for your tabletop, add candles that match the Halloween decor and small velvet pumpkins in different sizes. This will create a grounded, fall-themed look.

Pro tip: You can even add LED candles or string lights inside the cubby to give it an eerie, haunted glow for the special night. We’re sure your kiddos will be impressed with lights!
