Materials Required:
- Air-dry white clay
- Real dry-pressed flowers
- Satin Mod Podge
- Clay tools (or a toothpick) for shaping
- Rolling pin
- Aluminum paper
- A small glass
- Wood surface for rolling clay
Step 1: Shape the Clay
Start by rolling the air-dry white clay using a rolling pin on a wood-covered surface. Aim for an even circular piece of clay that’s about ¼ inch thick, so your ghost holds its shape in the drying process.
Then, to mold our little ghosts, we’ll need to create a ball of aluminum paper and place it on top of a small glass. Simply add the circular air-dry clay on top and start shaping flowy curves at the bottom — as if it’s a real ghost!
Lastly, don’t forget to add two small holes for the eyes using your clay tool.
Step 2: Add Pressed Flowers
After letting your ghosts dry overnight, it’s time to get creative by gently pressing your flowers onto your ghost using a brush and the Mod Podge. Arrange them however you like — around the base, on the sides or even across the face for a fun look.
Tip: Do not be afraid of adding plenty of Mod Podge. Some thicker flowers might need some extra glue — it will dry quickly after the first coat and works as a sealer, too.
Once the flowers are dry, you can add battery-powered lights to display your new beautiful floral ghosts. This is the perfect craft to make for friends or with kids at home this Halloween season.
