When thinking of design and renovation we often consider new builds easier to work on. It’s true that they don’t run into the issues that often lurk under old drywall and floors. Despite that, they come with their own unique set of issues. Having a blank canvas is exciting to work with, but when clients dream up new concepts and fantastic fixtures, it can be a challenge making their dreams a reality. That’s where Ali Budd and her design team come in. When their client wanted a chic midtown family home with nonstop glamour, they were the only team for the job.

Elegant Eatery
Kitchens are all about functionality, but who’s to say that one of those functions can’t be to wow? Ali wanted this to be a space that intrigued the eye from forty-feet-away and right up close. To do this she used a three-tone design using viola marble, wood, and hammered brass. The upside to this was that every inch of the space felt luxe and grand. However, the downside was the difficulty that came from working with such unique materials. Despite a few minor setbacks, it’s hard to argue with results.

Family Glam
Ali’s clients for this build were a mother, father, two girls, and a dog. On paper that sounds typical. However, this was a family that appreciated a good aesthetic. It’s for this reason that they wanted a full glam room worked into the design. This was a first for the team, who, with a little help from Ali’s Auntie Denise, worked tirelessly to give them a space fitting of serving look after look.
