Designer Dress-Up

Bland and boring closet before

Blank canvas is a great starting point, but when you’re designing the closet of the Barbie, bland won’t do. Every inch of this closet would need to be ‘barbiefied’.

Christina and James (Christina on the Coast) were given the glamourous task of overhauling the closet. Since this was the last round in the competition, and all of Barbie’s decades had already been done, they had free reign designwise. The two immediately got to work building a space for all our favorite dolls’ iconic looks. When you think Barbie, you think fashion and accessories, so of course her closet would have a futuristic accessory dispenser and hat conveyor. When you’ve been serving looks since the 60’s you have to be cutting edge.

An Office for Any and All Careers

Before:

Before shot of the bland home office

Home offices should be engaging and a reflection of the owner no matter the occupation. You can’t do your best work in a boring space. That’s why this space would never do, Barbie has had over 250 jobs, and this office didn’t work for any of them.

Michel and Anthony (Luxe for Less) are no strangers to blending fashion and function. That’s exactly what they brought to Barbie’s office. When you’re a busy woman, working more that 250 jobs, you need a space that functions well. With inspiration and nods to all the generations of Barbie jobs, the team made just that. However, it can’t just look good, that’s why they installed a high tech, fold-down video conference screen, so Barbie can say “hi Barbie!” to her coworkers and collegues anywhere. If that’s not enough, they also included a fish tank, paying homage to Barbie’s days as a marine biologist.
