From furniture to fashion, Barbiecore is taking the internet and interior design world by storm. It’s inspired by the ultra-bright shades and playful designs of the iconic Barbie toy and is often associated with plastic, metallic and neon pastel aesthetics. Here’s a guide on how to make a Barbiecore DIY mirror using just polymer clay.
Step into the wonderful world of Barbie with HGTV’s new series, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge premiering Sunday, July 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV Canada. It is also available on the Global TV App and on STACKTV with Amazon Prime Video Channels, fuboTV, Rogers Ignite TV, and Ignite SmartStream.

Materials Required:
- Medium-sized mirror (I got this one at the dollar store)
- Hot pink polymer clay
- Roller
- Craft Knife
- Oven-safe baking sheet
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
Step 1: Prepare Your Polymer Clay
Begin by conditioning your pink polymer clay by kneading it with your hands until it becomes soft and pliable. Take your polymer clay and roll it out using a rolling pin or your hands to your preferred thickness. Try to make the long, rolled clay pieces as even as possible.

Step 2: Create the Shape
Grab your mirror, remove the old frame (if it has one) and start placing the rolled clay pieces around it. We went for a super trendy curved design using five pieces of rolled pink clay, placing them on the outside of one another. You can totally experiment with the shapes and sizes to make it more visually appealing.
Step 3: Bake the Polymer Clay
Place your clay design onto an oven-safe baking sheet and follow the instructions on your polymer clay package to bake in the oven (we baked ours for 30 minutes at 215°F).

Step 4: Attach the Polymer Clay Frame to the Mirror
Once the polymer clay has hardened and cooled, superglue the wavy frame to the mirror. Make sure you use enough hot glue for your new DIY frame to securely attach to the mirror.
There you have it, your own Barbiecore DIY mirror using polymer clay! This mirror is perfect for anyone who loves bright hues, whimsical designs and a touch of sparkle. Plus, it’s a unique piece that you can be proud to display in your space – no matter the room.
