Jasmine Roth has chutzpah! The California-based builder and designer turns AstroTurf into signage, fearlessly plays with pattern and has no boundaries when it comes to mixing different eras. We can all learn from the adventurous host of HGTV’s Hidden Potential, who brings a certain brilliant madness to mundane homes. Have a look for yourself!
Zig-Zag Appeal
Can we talk about that wall for a second? Jasmine’s creative idea on both the ridged treatment and the deep aqua colour is amazing. And she takes it up a notch by adding shelves. A pile of jewel-tone pillows, mid-century modern furniture and a funky rug make this a riotously fun one-of-a-kind living room.
Seeing Stars
Faced with a fireplace, most people add a mantel, accessorize with some candles and are done. But Jasmine turned up the heat. Here, the designer brought the focal point to the room with spunky star tiles that reach the ceiling. A contemporary log holder is sculptural but not too loud as to compete with the fireplace.
Repurposed Vanity
An antique chest is reborn in this boho bathroom, where wood floors – yes, they’re fine in a loo – look smashing against deep navy blue walls. A macrame hanging, air plant and accessories lend an earthy touch. Quirky cool!
Lofty Goals
An indoor swing might seem odd, but that’s if you’re unfamiliar with Jasmine’s idiosyncratic style. Here, large beams frame the kitchen, where a trio of ethereal pendants show off their bulbs to echo the space’s industrial vibe.
Stair Affair
Black rails and wood stairs are an unusual combo that brings distinct flair to this corner. Jasmine’s love of antiques is on show again, where distressed trunks act as storage and decor, and a repurposed locker finds a new home. Loads of texture emerges from the layered rugs, wall art and light fixture.
Salvaged Show-off
Jasmine scoured the shops – and saved the landfill – by bringing in a one-of-a-kind farmhouse door and matching signage. The baskets and rug invite texture and interest.
Feel the Love
Got a boring nook that needs pep? Oversized art is an excellent way to fill a wall in one shot and to add oomph. We love Jasmine’s treatment of using large letters with intertwined string.
Fresh Take
A crisp white kitchen is warmed up with Jasmine’s signature use of wood and plants. Black accents – from the curtain rods to the faucet and window trim – give defining edge to the space.
Industrial Edge
This might be a white kitchen, but it sure has moxie. The informal, friendly space is furnished with plants, disparate vessels and baskets. Industrial stools and rattan blinds counter all the white. The result is a lived-in kitchen that looks collected over time.
Dark and Dishy
Black brick tile and a coordinating vanity give attitude to this anything-but-basic bathroom. Throw up a piece of wood art for something that stands out from the crowd.
Eclectic Mix
A rope acts as a divider between rooms in this eclectic dining space, furnished with abstract art, a bewitching posy of bulbs on the light fixture and a harvest table. And there are those plants again, looking fine and increasing oxygen levels.
Materials Merge
Dovetailing the island’s wooden overhang with the sleek white countertop brings a dynamic look to this kitchen. The trim on the hood vent is a lovely detail. Black rattan pendants pop against the white and match the cabinetry knobs.
Mix Matters
Jasmine proves that elegant doesn’t mean stiff in this home office, where dissimilar elements mingle. You wouldn’t, for example, think to unite cowhide chairs and an ornate wood-carved door. And yet the fearless style works beautifully.
Flea-Market Find
If you’re trying to “pull a Jasmine,” hit up a flea market. In this farmhouse kitchen, old signage, a steel bench and metal accessories have vintage appeal. The rest is all modern: from the sexy island to the subway tile wall.
Ranch Fun
We’re not in Kansas anymore. The playful exterior of this sprawling beauty attests to Jasmine’s creative skill. From the AstroTurf “Play” to the plank swing and the plethora of plants, this home is about letting your inner child run wild. PS: Learn more about the savvy HGTV host here!
