Letitia Kiu makes DIY home and fashion videos that always inspire. The fashion graduate and content creator started her channel by showing off snappy solutions that made her small rental apartment sing, like hanging foldable pegs in the foyer. Nowadays her DIYs have gone up a notch, especially after moving into her newly purchased 1970s fixer-upper in Toronto. Alongside her boyfriend, Stefan, and their Boston Terrier, Reido, this little family are slowly making their 1,300-square-foot place their own. Check out more of this content creator’s bright and eclectic home. You can also watch the video tour here:
Thrifted Two-Piece
This vintage-inspired mirror and console table are the perfect fit for Letitia and Stefan’s cozy entrance. “It was an antique find from Uncle Joe’s Attic in Brighton, Ont., says Letitia. “I highly recommend a visit.”
Whimsical Welcome
The blue vase is from IKEA, and the pink bunny tails are from a local florist. The pink and blue contrast adds a playful and whimsical first impression to their bright and eclectic home.
Feeling Hot
“The black fireplace insert came with the house. I never lived with a fireplace before and I love it,” says Letitia. Candy-coloured twisted vases along the hearth add a splash of colour.
Puff Piece
Seashell pillows have been trending all over Instagram, but this piece is one of a kind. How do we know? Letitia made it herself. Watch how she made her DIY seashell pillow here.
Embracing the 1980s
With its black lacquered finish and gold detailing, this abstract-shaped coffee table and matching side number was exhumed from the Flashdance era. What a feeling!
Cozy Up
What’s a home without cozy touches? Chunky blankets and vibrant pillows add zip and warmth to the couple’s home.
Working 9 to 5
With so much time spent working from home, why not dedicate one of the best rooms as you office? “We got lucky because this house has three bedrooms, so we both have an office,” says Letitia. She chose a bright, airy scheme for hers.
Bright and Eclectic Touches
Letitia peppered her place with blue accessories for continuity. This curvy vase offers a dose of deep colour, and there’s that pink again (we last saw it in those bunny tails).
Corner Office
Letitia relocated one of the side tables from the living room to her office and set up a little vignette of pretty things. The checkered tin box is a thrifted Facebook find.
Office Nook Look
“My style is modern with pops of colour. I love antiquing and finding vintage pieces,” says Letitia. She picked up this quirky fibreglass statue at a garage sale. “The hair strands are pieces of glass. It’s incredibly fragile,” she says. And it’s sentimental: it’s the first home-decor item the couple bought together.
Function and Style
A moveable table over the bed is giving us all the luxury feels. Who wouldn’t want breakfast in bed here?
Neutral Dreams
The couple’s soothing monochromatic bedroom is painted Almond Wisp by Behr. If you’re looking for a warmer alternative to white, then this is the shade for you.
Table Fable
The couple’s bedroom is wide, so Letitia decided to design a built-in floating side table that acts as a make-up station as well. Wood strips invite textural punch to the space. Watch how her tutorial here.
Blasts of Blue
Here’s some more of that blue that keeps the house feeling cohesive. The funky velvet stool is from AliExpress.
Mismatch Style
Instead of another floating table, Letitia and Stefan opted for this circular nightstand. The asymmetrical look and greenery in the vase brings character to the space.
To-Do List: The Kitchen
“We’re starting the kitchen next month. We’re doing everything ourselves,” says Letitia. The list includes updating the appliances, painting and refinishing the cabinets and tiling the floors as as well as adding a new backsplash. “With colourful grout,” says Letitia who also plans to build a breakfast nook. We can’t wait to see the finished product.
