Whether you’re a DIY’er or a professional contractor, there are certain tools that you simply can’t do without. While some of these may seem obvious, I have seen too many toolboxes that lack these essentials. These tools will help you get any project done, no matter the size.

Safety First
While personal protection equipment may not necessarily be classified as a tool, they are the most important part of any project. Whatever you are working on, you should ensure that you are properly protected. From a hard hat, to safety glasses, boots and gloves – stay safe!

Hammer
The most obvious, yet most necessary, tool in any project! While I love the nostalgia behind a wooden-handle hammer, they’re not always the most ideal tool to be swinging all day. I’d suggest a light all-steel frame with a vibration-absorbing grip. It’s smooth-swinging, reliable and comfortable to use. This will allow you to hang pictures inside the home or complete any home-renovation or construction project, regardless of the size.
Level
The level is a necessity for anyone’s tool box. It can ultimately decide the fate of any project – there’s not much you can do with a deck that’s un-level or a roof with an incorrect slope. While the level has a seemingly basic job, there are a variety of different options out there. Some offer LED lighting and various types of grip on the tool. When picking out a level, make sure there is good visibility and readings for the vials. Invest in a dependable level – it will last longer and help with your future projects.

Tape Measure
Having an easy-to-read and easy-to-use tape measure plays an important role in the success of any project. Making sure your measurements are correct (and checking it twice) will make your life a lot easier.
Screwdriver
It’s always important to have a good screwdriver set. In the trades, you should never encounter a screw that can’t be screwed. While there are plenty of brands that offer quality screwdriver sets, I recommend going for a set that offers an ergonomic grip and can get the job done. While I prefer to have a set of screwdrivers on hand, many people do prefer having multi-bit screwdrivers. Whichever you choose, you can be assured that investing in these quality tools will help you get the job done.
Staple Gun
It may be one of the most underrated tools out there. Whether it’s a powered staple gun, or a hand-powered model, the staple gun is an essential tool to have. It’s versatile, easy to use and can help out on most any project – big or small.
Impact Drill
Though not as well-known as other tools, I recommend every DIY’er or professional have an impact driver in their toolbox. It’s similar to a drill but offers a few extra benefits. It is used to drive screws and tighten nuts but is lighter and smaller than the average drill. It can also deliver a much higher torque when needed to help get those hard jobs done faster.
