When we first heard word that Fixer Upper‘s Chip and Jo purchased a sprawling (albeit outdated) Revival-style estate in Waco, Texas last spring, we knew a lust-worthy renovation was in our future. But in true Gaines fashion, the design-savvy duo went one step further: This week, the pair revealed that the gorgeously restored property, dubbed Hillcrest Estate, will serve as their second vacation rental! Here’s a grand tour of the reimagined space, which will welcome guests this fall.
Grand Reveal
Mark your calendars, design fans: The stately 1903 home in Waco, Texas (which spans 4,831 square feet) will be available to rent on August 8th. See here for more details!
Architectural Interest
While the property’s exterior still maintains its historic charm, Chip and Jo freshened it up with thoughtful details like a coat of black paint on the front door and upper-level railings.
Eye-Catching Entry
The light-filled entrance is a far cry from the stuffy interior that once consumed this space. Light hardwood floors, crisp white walls and vintage-inspired furniture energize the area, but are still in keeping with the home’s old-world vibe.
Rustic Warmth
It’s easy to feel at home in a space filled with this much character. Everything from the plush armchairs to the potted plants and nature-inspired artwork make you want to sit back and stay awhile (read: forever).
Culinary Beauty
Where do we even begin? From the ample square footage and storage (two islands!) to the glam brass fixtures and soft grey cabinets, this kitchen is the definition of form meeting function. Bonus: the home can accommodate up to 12 guests, and with a culinary space this big, there’s no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen.
Dining in Style
The kitchen’s dining area is a true reflection of Joanna’s signature style: fashionable farmhouse flair. We’re coveting that distressed wooden hutch and industrial-style chandelier!
Dreamy Slumbers
Here’s a peek inside one of the bedrooms (there are seven total), which boasts a cozy country-style feel thanks to elements like decorative iron bed frames, plush textures and of course, a classic shiplap ceiling.
Bedroom Bliss
Waking up in this dreamy, feminine bedroom is the epitome of morning bliss. The soft pastel shades and textured cushions add a hint of personality while maintaining the room’s relaxed vibe.
Study in Contrasts
Though the property’s original study had good bones, the interior was drab, dim and dated. The design team gave it a fresh facelift with navy blue walls, caramel leather furniture and a statement brass chandelier. The resulting look is sophisticated elegance.
Story Time
From this image, it seems the study also serves as a bedroom, where guests will have their share of captivating reads to choose from as they cozy up under the covers.
Pre-Reno Home
Curious what Hillcrest Estate looked like before Chip and Jo worked their reno magic? See here for an inside look, and prepare to be rendered speechless.
