Christmas is almost here, and we can’t wait! As much as we love this time of year, the holiday season can strain our budgets. For this reason, we’re sharing how to update your holiday decor without breaking the bank. Here are our favourite clever ways to use inexpensive dollar-store holiday decorations in your home to celebrate the most wonderful time of year.
DIY #1: A Colourful Star Garland
Materials Required:
- Colourful stars
- Scissors
- Nylon thread
How to Style It: Start by threading the stars (one by one) using a transparent nylon thread and make a knot to hold each star in the garland. Cut the nylon excess with your scissors and hang your new beautiful garland in your favourite spot.
Total Cost: $2.25
DIY #2: Make a Modern Star Candle Holder
Materials Required:
- Wooden stars ornaments
- Hot glue gun
- Any ribbons you have at home to decorate
- Scissors
How to Style It: Ornaments as candle holders? It’s easier than you think! Firstly, remove the cords from the star ornaments with your scissors. Add a thin line of hot glue directly into the wooden stars and glue a second star on top. We glued four stars in total to create each candle holder. Add a little ribbon as a special detail to finish this project (and cover the ornament hole). Super cute, right?
Total Cost: $3
DIY #3: Upgrade your Shelf with This Adorable 3D Wooden tree
Materials Required:
- 3D wooden tree
How to Style It: This tree is a show stopper (especially at this price point, right?) You just need to assemble the wooden tree by sliding the two pieces together, so simple – no tools or glue required. We didn’t paint the natural wood to complement our cheerful, colourful scheme, making this #shelfie perfect for the holidays.
