With its quaint coastal towns, hillside vineyards and fresh local cuisine, Italy spells romance. So when we heard word that Property Brothers‘ Drew Scott and Linda Phan were tying the knot in the scenic locale this May, we knew their special day would be nothing short of magical. Here’s an inside peek at their whimsical wedding, along with the many beautiful moments in between.
Bachelor Bash
When they landed in Italy, Jonathan and older brother J.D. surprised Drew with an adventurous bachelor party. The excursion involved an extravagant treasure hunt that saw the wedding party donning bright-hued suits.
All Aboard!
Linda’s bridesmaids surprised the wife-to-be with an Italian excursion of her own. The group spent the day biking through a scenic Italian town that’s a UNESCO world heritage site.
Out for a Spin
After cycling around town, Linda and her wedding party attended a cooking class in a nearby village. They then capped off the night with the bachelor party for an evening of dinner and dancing.
Romantic Rehearsal
A few days before the ceremony, Drew and Linda hosted an intimate rehearsal dinner with their 20-person wedding party.
Catching Sight
An intimate moment during the rehearsal dinner of the pair taking in the breathtaking Italian setting (and each other!).
Warm Welcome
The night before exchanging vows, the couple hosted a lavish alfreso welcome dinner for their 300-something guests.
Scenic Setting
Now this is one way to welcome guests! The elaborate pre-wedding dinner under the stars involved an authentic Italian buffet, along with local vendors making fresh pastas and mozzarella (drool). The historic architectural backdrop speaks for itself.
Helping Hand
Instead of wedding gifts, the charity-focused couple asked guests to donate to the WE charity.
Wedding Ready
Pictured on his wedding day, Drew embraced his Scottish heritage by donning a traditional kilt, alongside his brothers and father. Fun fact: the newlyweds originally wanted to get married in a castle in Scotland, but finally decided against it knowing there was a better chance of rain.
Saying “I Do”
The picture-perfect ceremony was the definition of romance, featuring a four-post altar expertly adorned with hanging greenery, white wisteria and a bounty of blooms. The aisles were even lined with flower petals, along with cones filled with petals for guests to toss. “This sat at the center of all the guests’ seats, so we were literally surrounded by all of our loved ones,” says Linda. The wedding was also officiated by Linda’s high-school best friend, Rodney Gabay.
Picture Perfect
Congrats to the happy couple! Linda also revealed that they decided to write their own vows: “We wanted to tell each other on this special day, in our own words, how much we meant to one another,” she says.
Family Affair
The newlyweds are pictured here with their family and wedding party. Linda even set out to find eco-friendly attire for many of the outfits. The gorgeous emerald-green bridesmaids dresses, for instance, were designed by sustainable dress company Reformation, which tie in perfectly with the nature-inspired setting.
Head Over Heels
When it came to Linda’s wedding look, she says she wanted something romantic and laid-back. Her gorgeous gown was designed by LA-based Claire Pettibone, and featured hand-beaded silk floral details on the bodice and sleeves. Drew’s traditional Scottish garb even featured the Scott family crest on the sporran. During the reception, the couple changed into more comfortable wear to dance the night away!
Sweet Tooth
The four-tiered buttercream wedding cake doubled as a work of art. Each layer featured a different (and unique!) filling flavour, from vanilla with goat cheese and strawberry-balsamic vinaigrette to carrot and chocolate hazelnut. No detail was overlooked: the gold herringbone design was inspired by the couple’s flooring pattern in their LA home, and the cookies cascading down the cake incorporate elements of Scottish and Chinese heritage.
Best Man Speech
During the reception (which took place under a custom-built glass structure encased in greenery) Jonathan took the stage for his best man speech to say a few sweet words about the pair. Cue the Kleenex!
Making Moves
The newlyweds were quick to show off their dance moves! The couple surprised guests with an elaborate choreographed routine by Drew’s former Dancing With the Stars partner Emma Slater and her husband. As for the rest of the night? They had their close friend, Wes, DJ and also had a live three-piece band – all amounting to a fabulous and eventful evening to remember.
