Elvis Presley’s most famous abode was Graceland, his iconoclastic Memphis mansion, but during the late 1960s and early ’70s he and wife Priscilla resided at this modern home in Beverly Hills. The home has had several owners since The King moved out in 1973, but the upgraded, updated midcentury mansion is back on the market, at an asking price of $30 million. By Brent Furdyk
The King’s Castle
During Elvis Presley’s heyday as a movie star, he and wife Priscilla lived in this 5,367-square-foot, three-bedroom home with sweeping views of Los Angeles.
French Regency
Originally constructed in 1958, the French Regency style home has undergone some big changes in recent years. After decades off the market, the home was listed in 2012, purchased by Hard Rock Cafe founder Rick Morton for $9.8 million. He flipped the place in 2014 to a mysterious corporate entity for $14.5 million, notes ‘Variety’, which is selling the home for more than double that price. Located at the end of a long driveway, a four-car motor court await at the front entrance.
Upgraded Thrououghout
While the basic structure of the home is more or less unchanged since Elvis lived there, the home appears to have new hardwood floors and a fresh coat of paint, among other upgrades. Note the stunning circular skylight in the entry foyer.
Sliding Glass Doors
Walls of glass and sliding glass doors throughout the home capitalize on the spectacular view, with ample natural light flooding into the bright and airy abode.
Attached Guesthouse
In addition to the main residence, the home also boasts an attached guesthouse. According to the listing, additional upgrades include stainless steel kitchen appliances, a new laundry room and fully upgraded electrical.
Magnificent Marble
There was no skimping on marble when it came to renovating this bathroom, which boasts floor-to-ceiling marble throughout.
High-Priced Rental
In 2014, the home’s owner attempted to rent the home for a hefty $45,000 per month, but it’s unclear whether anyone actually paid that much to stay there – hey, it’s Hollywood; stranger things have happened.
Closet Built for a King
Adjacent to the master bedroom is this spacious walk-in closet, which presumably once stored dozens of sequin-covered jumpsuits.
Privacy Ensured
The home was ideally suited for one of the most famous people on the planet, offering ultimate privacy at the end of a long driveway, located in L.A.’s posh Trousdale Estates neighbourhood, which has been home to a who’s who of celebrities over the years.
The View
A big part of the home’s $30-million asking price has to do with the amazing view down the canyon, looking out to the towers of Century City and, on days when the L.A. smog isn’t too bad, all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Resurfaced Pool
Other upgrades include the complete resurfacing of the pool and spa, and there’s no denying the pool is as glamourous as they come.
