Get to Know Heather Rae and Tarek El Moussa

Partners in love, life, parenting and now flipping! These two have an impressive resume together and we get to see it all unfold in front of our eyes. There’s no shortage of love, drama and excitement as these two take on a few of life’s biggest challenges. Starting a business together and growing their family, what will they learn and teach us along the way?

Tarek is a survivor of cancer. After a Flip or Flop fan noticed a concerning growth on Tarek’s throat, they wrote to producers who passed along the note to Tarek. Thanks to the (ultimate) fan, Tarek got diagnosed and went through treatment. He has been in remission since 2014 and lives life to the fullest.

Drumroll please! Let’s give a warm HGTV welcome to Heather Rae El Moussa! Heather is a real estate maven, TV personality, model…the list goes on! Heather is an LA real estate agent and specializes in the high-end luxury market. She understands the luxury real estate market’s ups and downs, and doesn’t shy away from the drama that comes with the territory.

Heather and Tarek met at a fourth of July party on a friend’s boat. Since then, they’ve moved at top knots speed and announced their relationship via Instagram a month later. They said their first meeting was “love at first sight.”

Heather has many passions (and no, we’re not talking about you, Tarek). Heather is a lover of all fauna big and small, and is a vocal animal rights advocate and proud vegan. She has been vegan for over 10 years!

Tarek proposed on July 25, 2020 on a romantic boat trip to Catalina Island, California, to celebrate their one year anniversary — or so Heather thought. Tarek knew she was the one by the natural way she integrated into his family. Their love and dedication to each other is inspiring and we can’t wait to see more of it on The Flipping El Moussas.

Tarek has two children, Taylor Reese and Brayden James, from his previous marriage. Tarek has said he knew Heather was the one by the way she naturally integrated into the family and the mutual love she and the children have for each other. Talk about a beautiful blended family. 

Tarek and Heather may have a new baby together but before their baby boy was born, they had a fur baby named Bugz El Moussa! They decided to adopt Bugz and surprise Tarek’s two children. That’s good old puppy love!

Tarek and Heather made things official (legally, that is) in October 2021, in Santa Barbara, California. Heather has said, “It’s the love I’ve always dreamed of my whole life”. Well, marriage is for life and we can’t wait to see what life has in store for these two lovebirds.

If the wedding wasn’t enough—they took forever to the next level! Tarek and Heather got inked up in their wedding date and each other’s initials. No excuses for forgetting their anniversary!

Heather is always on top of it when it comes to personal health and animal rights. She has been outspoken about her views and has been a proud vegan since she was 22 years old. She has said being vegan “makes me feel so much healthier and it’s something that’s really worked for me, plus I care about animals so it all aligns.” Out of this passion was born a plant-based protein powder that Heather partnered with Tru Supplements to create.

What can’t these two do? After being open to fans about fertility struggles and their stance on having children, Heather and Tarek announced they were expecting their first baby together. From starting a business together to welcoming a new member of their family, there is so much to be excited about for the El Moussas!

Tarek and Heather decided to do a gender reveal with family and friends, using blue confetti cannons. They were in for a surprise because they were both convinced they were having a girl!

Heather is a licensed real estate agent and she’s no stranger to the luxury real estate market. With one of her true passions being interior design, we can’t wait to see where this passion takes her in The Flipping El Moussas.

Meet the newest addition to the El Moussa crew: Baby Tristan. Tristan was born January 2023 and we can’t imagine a more fun-loving family to end up with.
