What if the characters from our favourite TV shows and movies were able to design their homes using modern furnishings that can be purchased right now? That’s the question that’s been asked and answered by Modsy, which utilizes 3D-rendering technology to provide shoppable recreations of any space – including fictional ones in films and TV shows. From The Golden Girls to Game of Thrones, check out these amazing recreations, utilizing home furnishings you can actually buy.
‘Big Little Lies’ — Celeste’s Living Room
To recreate the living room of Celeste (Nicole Kidman) on HBO’s hit series Big Little Lies, Modsy “pays homage to both Celeste’s character traits and her seaside abode” with a design ethos described as “eclectic minimalism with a coastal vibe.” In order to keep things inviting, a coastal blue paint palette is combined with organic materials such as light wood tones to warm up the “coolness.”

‘Big Little Lies’ — Madeline’s Living Room
To recreate Madeline’s (Reese Witherspoon) Big Little Lies living room, the look is “family-friendly and sophisticated coastal.” It’s a space that is “inviting, colourful and at its core, family focused (much like Madeline likes to be perceived).”

‘Game of Thrones’ — White Walker
After a rough day of leading your undead army into battle, where would Game of Thrones‘ Night King come home to chill? Modsy imagined what a White Walker’s stylish abode would look like, with white furnishings, plush fabrics and blue accents. “Our White Walker space isn’t as scary as the show would expect us to feel,” notes Modsy. “Instead it’s slightly austere and dramatic with an all-white winter interior. The contrast of deep dark blues and blacks mixed with pops of white bring the drama while still feeling accessible to the living.”
‘Stranger Things’
Since Stranger Things is set in the 1980s, this look may not be particularly glam or refined, but it is “accessible and eclectic,” including the string lights, “an easy element to bring into any home and give you that retro vibe all year long, especially if you’re trying to communicate with someone in the underworld.”
‘House of Cards’
In the final Kevin Spacey-free season of House of Cards, the sleek and stylish design ethos of President Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) is reflected in this design for the Oval Office. Furniture features clean lines, structured forms and minimal detailing, creating a space that is “purposefully styled with an eye for minimalism.”
‘Will & Grace’
For this look, Modsy imagined what Will Truman’s (Eric McCormack) apartment would look like if he moved out and roommate Grace Adler (Debra Messing) lived there solo instead, with the interior designer recreating the space in her own image. The result would combine bold textures, prints, patterns and colour, including eclectic art and printed fabrics (and even a tiger-print rug).

‘Seinfeld’ — Elaine
What if Seinfeld‘s Jerry gave up the lease to his Manhattan apartment and one of his pals took it over? That’s the idea behind this grouping, beginning with what the place would look like if it were redesigned by Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Modsy envisions Elaine’s look as “modern rustic.” It features “classic and comfortable pieces with rustic accents,” with such touches as a signed photo of the Soup Nazi and boyfriend David Puddy’s Magic 8-Ball jacket hanging on the coat rack.
‘Seinfeld’ – George
If George Costanza (Jason Alexander) lived in Jerry’s place, he’d probably let a design-savvy girlfriend lend a hand in designing it, resulting in a look dubbed “inviting industrial” that consists of “comfortable pieces with minimal and masculine accents.” Fun pieces include a drafting table for the wannabe architect, along with his framed underwear photo, a Frogger video game hidden in the corner and, of course, a Festivus pole on the right.
‘Seinfeld’ — Kramer
If Kramer (Michael Richards) moved across the hall to take over Jerry’s place, he’d bring his wild and eclectic style, resulting in a look Modsy dubs “rustic traveller,” inspired by the Hawaiian shirts he would often wear. Among the more notable pieces are the seagrass counter stools and Tommy Bahama coffee table – an ideal showcase for his coffee table book that becomes a coffee table.

‘Seinfeld’ — Jerry
If Jerry was still living in the apartment, Modsy imagines this is what it would look like all these years later, embracing a look that’s familiar, but with modern updates. Jerry’s style would be “contemporary minimalist with a masculine twist,” described as “clean and comfortable” with furniture that sports “straight lines and right angles and keeps to a palette of greys, blues and greens.”

‘Friends’
Had Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) stayed in her place instead of heading to Westchester, Modsy imagines the iconic Friends apartment would look like this, boasting a style described as “rustic warmth,” blending “contemporary furniture with rustic accents” for a look that “would appeal to Monica’s eclectic taste and Chandler’s need for comfort.”

‘Frasier’
Frasier Crane’s (Kelsey Grammer) Seattle condo was already sleek and sophisticated and with rumours of a potential Frasier reboot, perhaps the place will have undergone design updates. “A few key updates we’ve made to the bones of his apartment reflect Frasier’s masculine-eclectic taste translated to today,” notes Modsy. “Terrazzo replaces the concrete tiles on the facade of his statement fireplace. We thought he might be into this trend, especially if he was trying to date someone younger. We ripped out the carpet and replaced it with a black marble to give the space a subtle edge and dramatic elegance.”
‘Sex and the City’
What would Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) Sex and the City apartment look like 20 years later had she remained there and not married Mr. Big? “As a nod to the ’60s-era mid-century pieces in Carrie’s original apartment, we selected pieces with mid-century bones,” explains Modsy. “We kept the colour palette mostly true to her original space. But we know Carrie wasn’t afraid of colour so we added a bright blue sofa (which also serves as reference to her later movie makeover wall colour).”
‘The Golden Girls’
A lot of cheesecake (and the occasional slice of Rose’s Genügenflürgen cake) was eaten in The Golden Girls kitchen and Modsy imagines it looking largely the same, but with a few key updates, including the woven storage cabinet (“an ode to South Beach materials and textures”) and Chinese Chippendale chairs paired with an eclectic wood dining table.
‘Clueless’
The walk-in closet of Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) from Clueless has been updated, replacing her zebra chairs with a classic Celine bench from West Elm and a new full-length mirror.
‘Beetlejuice’
This recreation of the Deetz family living room from Beetlejuice takes the sparse ’80s esthetic and propels it to the 21st century, utilizing a black-and-white colour palette inspired by Beetlejuice’s (Michael Keaton) iconic striped suit.

‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’
Inpsired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, this living room incorporates layered black-and-white patterns with purple and gold accent pieces and a purple accent wall – and, of course, such familiar items from the film as a spooky ghost mug, Christmas tree and plenty of spiderwebs.
‘Rosemary’s Baby’
The Manhattan apartment in Roman Polanski’s 1968 horror classic has been recreated, using modern versions of the mid-century modern furnishings used by Rosemary (Mia Farrow) to decorate her apartment in New York’s famed apartment building, The Dakota.

‘Hocus Pocus’
Since the 1993 comedy Hocus Pocus about a trio of witches (Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy) is set in Salem, Massachusetts, the intent with this room was “to create a space that encapsulated the American Colonial aesthetic we see throughout the movie,” using pieces “inspired by early-American furniture.”
‘Casablanca’
“Boho eclectic meets Moroccan charm” in this restyled version of Rick’s nightclub from the 1944 Oscar winner Casablanca, adding “a bit more of a bohemian feel to modernize the space a bit from its original 1940s style.”
‘Shakespeare in Love’
“Where modernized Elizabethan meets theatrical flair, this space is perfectly dark and moody, just like a Shakespearean tale with elements of dramatic whimsy woven throughout,” explains Modsy. The space is inspired by “the Elizabethan-era style of combining textiles and pattern, as well as the use of dark, rich and bold colours.”
‘Titanic’
In recreating the posh smoking room and cafe from Titanic, Modsy imbues the classic elements “with a touch of traditional and glam,” along with palm leaf plants and an elegant chandelier.

‘The Sound of Music’
“Classic-European meets traditional elegance in this space, as The Sound of Music is set in 1940s Austria in the home of a wealthy, retired military captain,” notes Modsy. It led to “a more traditional interior that is aligned with the period of the film, as well as the more serious and austere side of the family’s values for balance, precision and order.”
‘The Shape of Water’
Art Deco combines with an industrial feel in Elisa Esposito’s (Sally Hawkins) 1960s-era living room from The Shape of Water, representing her “life of isolation and her unique bond with a mysterious, scaled creature.” To create the aesthetic, the colour palette “follows the moody tones of the movie” and is “purposefully minimally styled with very few foundational pieces that are styled with Art Deco and industrial decor.”

‘Cinderella’
Modsy also created a series based on iconic Disney princesses, including this reimagining of what Cinderella’s living room would look like in the modern era – after she married Prince Charming and had a few bucks to throw around for some quality furniture, that is. Keep your eyes peeled for such hidden elements as the iconic glass slippers, tiara and an alarm clock, “representing when the clock strikes midnight and the magical spell wears off.”

‘Frozen’
Elsa’s bedroom from Frozen is inspired by wintry elements through the colour palette and materials, with the intent of creating “a cozy retreat that mimics Norwegian folk patterns, which can be found through the rug, pillows and bed.”
‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’
The bedroom for the princess at the heart of Disney’s first feature-length animated film incorporates elements from the 1938 classic. “If Snow White was a modern day designer, she would 100 per cent be Joanna Gaines,” notes Modsy, comparing her to the Fixer Upper star. “She loves the rustic farmhouse style and is drawn to comfortable and lived-in pieces. This is her bedroom and she would have used this as the ultimate ‘enchanted forest’ escape, perfect for inspiring daydreams and bringing solace from the outside world.”
‘Beauty and the Beast’
Belle’s bedroom from Beauty and the Beast encapsulates the colour palette and romance of this particular Disney princess. “Her iconic yellow gown is recreated in this room’s focal point – the beautiful Anthropologie velvet sofa and other key pieces were selected to recreate the shapes and personality of our favourite characters. The Wardrobe keeps a watchful eye over the room, while Mrs. Potts, Chip and Lumiere are sprinkled throughout the space.”
‘Mulan’
Since the character of Mulan is a warrior, but also a princess, her living room is meant to balance these two sides of her personality in a space “filled with clean, minimalistic lines and a classic colour palette of reds, blues and neutrals. The overall vibe strikes a balance of feminine and masculine features.”
‘Moana’
The tropical setting of Hawaii-based Moana is meant to have an ocean-like feel, with the room divider “reminiscent of sails of a rustic boat.”
