Looking to makeover your outdoor space this spring? While backyard makeovers can cost thousands of dollars, we’ve rounded up eight ways to update your outdoor space for less than $100 in 2023.
Stain or Paint
Give a fresh coat of stain or paint to your deck this spring to breathe new life into your outdoor space. Alternatively, paint any outdoor furniture, planters or pergolas with a pop of colour!
Pillows or Blankets
A nice way to bring some warmth to your backyard on chilly springtime nights is to furnish with some pillows, blankets and/or rugs. If your outdoor space isn’t covered, make sure you have adequate storage to stash those pillows and blankets so they don’t get ruined by the elements.
Plants
From vegetable gardens to wild flowers, there are plenty of options to makeover your backyard with plants. Why not try something different with a vertical garden or raised planter beds?
Fire
Enjoy some quality family time around the fire this summer. With a little elbow grease, you can easily build a nice fire pit on a budget. Or, you can often find chimeneas on sale (or used) for less than $100.
Twinkle Lights
A few strands of twinkle lights won’t break the budget and will bring some much needed brightness and charm to your outdoor space. Solar lanterns or garden lights will also do the trick.
Walkway
A brick or stone walkway will put you back hundreds or thousands of dollars, but some salvaged wood is an excellent alternative. With a little bit of work, you can create this dreamy path too!
Storage
Clean up the clutter – garden tools, backyard games, patio pillows and more – by creating some easy outdoor storage. A wood bench, metal or plastic trunk or outdoor ottoman will work well.
Hammock
Once you’ve done all this work, you’ll want to relax; and what better way to do it than in a hammock? Varieties that hang from trees cost under $100, freestanding options are a bit more.
