Shortly before news broke that Jane Fonda had split with her beau of eight years, music producer Richard Perry, the Oscar-winning actress had placed the couple’s gorgeous Beverly Hills home on the market with an asking price of $12.995 million. With four bedrooms and six baths, the stunning two-storey mansion is as spectacular as you’d expect from one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars.
Expansive Estate
Boasting both canyon and ocean views, Fonda’s home boasts 7,102 square feet of living space, while the home itself is situated on a 36,000-square-foot lot.
Fonda’s Foyer
The dramatic metal front door opens into a large foyer, with a staircase to the right leading to the upper level. Meanwhile, an ascending glass elevator is used to enter the expansive gallery below.
Staircase
The staircase and, to the left, the glass elevator. Note the bongo drums, which are sure to get a lot of use whenever Fonda’s fellow Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey drops by for a visit.
Eco-Conscious
Rocking seamlessly adjoining rooms throughout its open-concept design, the home also boasts some seriously clever eco-conscious innovations, including photovoltaic electric panels, a solar heated pool, thermal glass UV-protecting double glazed UV windows with motorized shades and ethanol-fuelled fireplaces, along with gorgeous eco-friendly bamboo floors.
Open Concept
The massive open-concept main level gallery combines the dining room, living room, butler’s pantry/bar, elegant office and large chef’s kitchen, with the breakfast room and adjoining family room.
Sunken Living Room
On the main level, the featured element is the sunken living room anchored by the minimalist, stacked stone fireplace, with a wall of windows looking out to the backyard greenery.
Instant Home
In a real-estate video describing the property, Fonda admits that the home – built in 1961 but extensively renovated since then – would be her home the second she laid eyes on it. “I took one look at the house and I knew – I just knew,” Fonda exclaims. “I knew this was a place where we could live very happily.”
Chef’s Kitchen
The spectacular eat-in chef’s kitchen features Verde quartz counters, walnut cabinets, premium-grade appliances and a double-wide island, with a broad bank of glass doors that open to an elevated terrace.
Off-Kitchen Den
The kitchen opens to this comfy small den, featuring a dramatic glass-backed fireplace set into the large picture window.
Fonda’s Office
Fonda’s office, located right off the den, features built-in bookshelves and large windows to take in the serene view outside.
Perry’s Office
Located in the lower level, music producer Richard Perry (known for producing such hits as Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”) used this space as his home office – note the array of gold records hanging on the wall. Glass doors open to an outdoor patio area.
The Wet Bar
Adjacent to Perry’s office is this completely outfitted wet bar, featuring several stools and a temperature-controlled wine refrigerator. What every home office needs!
Media Room
TV and movie viewing is clearly the purpose of this ultra-comfortable family room/screening room, although it’s also set up to work equally well as a cozy gathering space.
Fitness Centre
As befits the woman who sold umpteen million of her workout tapes back in the 1980s, Fonda’s home includes an exercise room, with glass doors opening onto the pool deck.
Sunset Views
One of the most attractive features to Fonda when she bought the house was its sunset views, and it’s easy to see why.
Master Bedroom
The expansive master bedroom includes a bi-level sitting room and adjoining study.
Ensuite Bathroom
The ensuite bathroom – one of two – boasts his and hers vanities and a large soaker tub.
Walk-in Closet
“This is the first time in my 79 years that I have had a closet that you can walk in and see everything that you have,” Fonda says in the video of the home’s massive walk-in closet.
Walk-in Shower
Another of the home’s six bathrooms, boasting a large walk-in steam shower and dramatic black vessel skin atop a chic vanity.
Solar-Heated Pool
Beyond the solar-heated swimming pool is a viewing platform with a fire pit, the perfect place to relax and take in a sublime California sunset.
Glorious Vistas
Located in a gated community in Beverly Hills, Jane Fonda’s home features this upper-level outdoor patio that is perfectly situated for taking in the stunning Southern California vista beyond.
