When Joe Pesci retired from acting in 1999, film pundits figured it near impossible that the famously private Oscar-winner could ever be coaxed back into making one final star turn. As it turns out, director Martin Scorsese was the only person who could convince Pesci to come out for one last cinematic hurrah alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Now, with the critically-acclaimed The Irishman currently in theatres (it also lands on Netflix Nov. 27), Pesci is also making headlines in real estate news, selling his Jersey Shore waterfront mansion for $6.5 million. With plans to relocate to California for the year-round sunshine and extra rounds of golf, the “goodfella” is ready to move on from his home of nearly 30 years.
Art Deco Vibes
For nearly 30 years, Joe Pesci has enjoyed plenty of privacy far from the prying eyes of the tabloids in this contemporary-meets-art-deco 7,200-square-foot home. Built in 1990, the mansion is located in the West Point Island neighbourhood of Jersey Shore – and it’s also a short bike ride from the beach.

Expansive Views
The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom property boasts stunning views of the waterfront and it’s own backyard dock, making us question why Pesci is leaving in the first place – well, aside from wanting to soak up the California sunshine.
Keeping it Private
Forget the dreamy white picket fence – Pesci’s property is entirely gated. All the better to keep prying eyes at bay while the Oscar winner enjoys some R&R outside of the glare from the paparazzi’s lens.
A Grand Entrance
While the turquoise front door offers a fun pop of colour in an otherwise white monochromatic home, the dramatic, free-standing curved staircase immediately grabs the eye upon entering the front foyer.
Open Concept
With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water, the open-concept living room features two seating areas and a grand piano. And with the two guitars in the corner, we wonder how often the musical Pesci – his latest album, Pesci … Still Singing, was released earlier in 2019 – has held jam sessions here with friends.

The media room even features its own fully-stocked mini bar.
Fond Memories
A vintage vinyl barber’s chair occupies one corner of the house as a “poignant” reminder of Pesci’s first job. His mother, Maria Mesce, worked as a part-time barber when the actor was a youngster living in Belleville, New Jersey. He’d briefly followed in her footsteps before befriending Frankie Valli as a teen and turning his focus to music.
Master of the House
The spacious second storey, which can also be reached via elevator, contains eight bedrooms, including this master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Each room also boasts their own personal upper terraces with stunning views – ideal for lucky guests.
