Wanting to put down roots, music-industry professionals Ashley and Aben enlist The Property Brothers to help them find a family home in Nashville big enough for their infant son and two college-aged daughters.
Meet in the Middle
With conflicting personal tastes – Ashley likes luxe glam and Aben rustic industrial – Jonathan struck the perfect aesthetic balance in his design.
Country Proud
In a true Nashville love story, Ashely and Aben first met backstage at the famous Grand Ole Opry theatre.
Touch Down
After travelling the world together making music, Ashely and Aben always came back to Nashville – and now they have a fabulous new landing pad.
Crash Pad
Having sold their old home much quicker than expected (with a simultaneous purchasing offer falling through), they had to crash at Ashley’s dad’s condo with their young son Everson.
This or That
In the hot Nashville real-estate market, house hunting had been a real struggle for this family, especially since Aben has a tendency to be indecisive about everything from pillow choices to location.
Artist’s Way
Luckily, he fully approved of the surprise feature art wall Jonathan commissioned a local artist to paint for their new front entry.
Not Long Distance
Drew was able to find them an incredible five-bedroom house only a 15-minute drive from their work on Music Row for US $469K.
Show Us What You Got
As a touring guitarist for Kelly Clarkson, Aben has a 60-guitar collection – the ample basement was instantly designated as the in-house guitar showroom.
Creative Compromise
With some discussion over the style of the dining-room table, Jonathan managed to find them a piece that appeased Ashley’s glam side as well as Aben’s rustic leanings.
Kool Kitchen
It was important to Ashley to have a large, state-of-the-art kitchen since that’s where her family spends most of their time. Much of the US$131K renovation budget was put towards turning that into a reality.
Style File
Jonathan took out two walls to make room for this clean, contemporary kitchen that seamlessly incorporates both Ashley and Aben’s styles.
Gold Star
A chic bar cart, which sits at the edge of the kitchen island, adds both function and fashion and is in an Ashley-approved colour – “I love all the gold accents!”
Power Up
Since coffee, in Aben’s words, “is the gateway to a beautiful day”, Jonathan surprised this java-loving client with his own personal coffee station.
Contemporary Glam
White subway tiles, grey grout, wide gold hardware and white, glass-fronted shaker cabinets all work together to make this kitchen feel both modern and glamourous.
Cook’s Kitchen
“This kitchen is pure glam,” says Ashley, finishing her first lap with Aben around their new kitchen. “It’s modern, it’s sexy – I can’t wait to sit in it and watch you cook.”
Rocking Rock and Roll
“You guys do have an edgier vibe,” says Jonathan when thinking through this renovation’s design concept. “And I like that we can have that influence come into the space.”
Knock Me Over
Walking into the finished space for the first time, Ashley was blown away, “Oh my gosh, I’m in love, I really am. It’s so beautiful and cool.”
Totally Decked Out
“Your house is beautiful on the inside,” says Drew, leading Ashley and Aben towards the back of the house. “But I know the big thing that sold you on this place was the outdoor area – you just needed a deck to enjoy it,”
Having Hindsight
“Jonathan’s design combines an artist’s creativity with functionality and space, perfect for a young family of musicians to grow into” says Drew thinking back on the project.
Having Hindsight
Walking out on the deck, Ashley and Aben couldn’t be happier. “It’s magical!” says Ashely. “This is the whole reason that we got this house.” And Aben agrees – “Yeah, you guys knocked it out of the park.”
