Kim Cattrall’s Hamptons Getaway
When iconic Canadian-American actress Kim Cattrall wants to kick back for a summer getaway, she heads to this stunning oceanfront cottage in the Hamptons. In addition to the spacious main cottage, the property also features a detached studio and numerous outdoor spaces dedicated to fun in the sun.

‘Outside the Glam’
Cattrall told The New York Times that she purchased the cottage for $450,000 in 1998, the year Sex and the City first hit the air, as a head-clearing refuge “outside the glam” of Hollywood.

Beachy Bliss
The home’s East Hampton location is as prime as they come, offering a full-on ocean view from the expansive mahogany deck overlooking Gardiners Bay. A large landscaped lawn leads to another seating area closer to the water, complete with a firepit.

Nearly Half an Acre
As the home’s listing notes, the cottage is situated on a large lot, four-tenths of an acre, “stretching from Gerard Drive to Gardiner’s Bay, offering seclusion, sophistication and the laid-back waterfront lifestyle that this unique Springs peninsula has offered for generations.”

Standalone Studio
In addition to the main cottage, there’s also a small freestanding studio. Complete with its own half-bathroom, the studio is heated and cooled for maximum comfort.

Inside the Studio
The studio features quaint built-in banquette-style seating beneath a bank of windows. “I always wanted a quiet beachfront home outside the glam,” Cattrall told the The New York Times of her Hamptons vacation getaway, “a home that would be restorative and simple to maintain, where I could have privacy, relax and decompress. My home has been my sanctuary.”

Wood-Lined Kitchen
The kitchen is spacious but minimal, with gorgeous custom-made blonde-wood cabinetry. The kitchen also features marble countertops and wood-panelled appliances.

Dining Area
The cottage’s dining area opens to the living room, and is adjacent to the den. French doors that open to the deck at the home’s rear offer an abundance of natural light.

Wall of Windows
The main living area features an open concept, with a wall of windows making the absolute most of the stunning ocean view.

Open Living Space
As the listing notes, the home boasts “an L-shaped open living/dining area with wood-burning fireplace, highlighted by an oversized wall of water-facing windows, providing sweeping views.”

Above the double-height living area, this loft-style guest bedroom is surrounded by the warmth of wood. Two skylights also flood the entire area with natural light.

The living room features an insert wood-burning fireplace, in addition to a motorized 59-by-80-inch movie screen and projector that descends from a recessed area within the ceiling, transforming the area into what the listing describes as “a Hollywood-style screening room.”

A New Waterfront Retreat
As Cattrall told The New York Times, she’s decided to sell because she’s now been spending time at another vacation home, a waterfront house on the east coast of Vancouver Island (where she grew up) that she purchased in 2014. “We are now spending more time there close to my mum and family,” she explained.

Casual Viewing
The cottage’s library/den has been set up for casual TV viewing, but can also double as a guest bedroom. The room includes built-in shelving and built-in seating.

The master bedroom isn’t particularly large, but it offers plenty of relaxing charm. It features a cushioned window seat with a lovely garden view.

The master bathroom is small but modern, featuring a ceramic-tiled walk-in shower and partially wood-panelled walls.
Hot Tub & Outdoor Shower
According to the listing, the recently installed outdoor shower and freestanding hot tub are positioned in order to take full advantage of the views, while offering privacy from neighbours thanks to fencing and lush, mature shrubbery.

Outdoor Seating
Closer to the water, this outdoor seating area offers stunning views. “We usually have a fire in the fire pit until the first snow falls,” Cattrall told The New York Times. As she told the newspaper, she has
“wonderful memories” of all the time she’s spent at her oceanfront Hamptons retreat, but has come to the conclusion that it’s finally time to move on. “I thought about selling the property after my divorce in 2004,” she said, “but I just couldn’t – 22 years later, it’s time.”
