We all love our humble abodes, but it can be quite thrilling to daydream about what our ultimate luxury home would look like. Each of these luxury home features has the power to elevate everyday life into something beyond basic. And while some may never get to experience them in their own home space, it’s always fun to dream.
Cook’s Kitchen, Kind Of
In luxury homes, the kitchen isn’t just a room where you heat up soup. It’s where you show off your culinary prowess. Even if you’ve never turned on the stove, having the best commercial-grade appliances is a must. With fridges that tell you when food expires and kitchen islands the size of, well, an island, even professional chefs would be jealous.
Garage Band
If you live in a metropolitan area in Canada, you know how limited (and what a luxury) nearby parking can be. That’s why we’re dreaming about this practical luxury-home feature – a multi-car garage located on the same property as your home. While most multi-millionaires would house six or more $100,000+ vehicles (think vintage Jags or custom Range Rovers), we’d settle for one space.
Tech Boom Billionaires
When it comes to properties with integrated systems, luddites are getting left behind – tech tycoons want touch pads and total control. Think LED wall panels for adjusting the temperature and lighting, voice-activated infrared security systems, and virtual assistants wired into every room. Having the latest home gadgets is the height of luxury in this new technology-based economy – and we want in.
Designer Clothes Horse
Most of us are happy with a closet to call our own, so it’s no wonder we’re fantasizing about this luxury-home feature – the master walk-in. This is not simply an oversized space to hang clothes; if this room doesn’t have its own island, it won’t do. Custom-built shelves for shoes and purses, hanging racks for scarves and ties, and specially designed drawers for jewelry are all in there.
Luxurious Loo
When you live in a luxury home, bathrooms aren’t for quick five-minute showers before jumping on the subway to go to work. These spa-like spaces are designed for soaking, relaxing and general luxuriating, and include features such as heated toilet seats, touch-less fixtures and electric bidets. Everything is one step (or perhaps five!) beyond basic, whether it’s added body jets in the shower or a customized steam room.
Millionaire Movie Night
No more hunching over a laptop in bed; in this luxury-home-feature fantasy, we’re eating buttery popcorn in our own home theatre. Having a private screening room in your sprawling palazzo has become par for the course for wealthy property owners in recent years. Proper reclining theatre seats, fancy reveal screen curtains and bespoke popcorn flavouring stations all add to the at-home movie-watching experience.
Wealthy Weight Lifters
Think about how much easier it would be to stay fit if you didn’t have to trek across town to work out? The world’s most toned tycoons have figured this formula out long ago – don’t go to the gym, bring the gym to you. State-of-the-art cardio machines, ergonomic weight machines and, of course, a guest suite for your personal trainer are part of this fitness fantasy.
When we think about which luxury-home features we’d want in our fantasy dream home, there are so many to choose from. But with careful consideration on how each would help improve our day-to-day life, these seven luxury add-ons rose to the top. If you were to design your ultimate luxury house, which features would you include?
