When it comes to adding a country chic flair to a room, nobody does it better than Fixer Upper‘s Joanna Gaines. Between her beautiful shiplap creations and her eye for rustic art, the host’s unique style has transformed some pretty amazing rooms over the years. Here are just a few of our recent favourites featuring her “natural” touch.
This Repurposed Couch Table
These arches automatically draw the eye, making for beautiful table “legs,” especially when paired with the carved top. Add a crate and these intricate candle holders, and it’s true what they say: what’s old is indeed new again.
A Fireplace Divider
The key to any open concept space is the have “divided” rooms that define the various living areas. Having a beautiful brick fireplace in the centre certainly helps.
An Antique Display
The carvings on this repurposed wood shelf stand out thanks to the fresh sea-green stain, and makes a pretty pairing next to the ruffled curtains.
A Wood-Trimmed Mirror
We love the details on this hutch, but it’s all tied together by the pretty shape of the wood-trimmed mirror above, which works to keep the overall look soft and polished.
Firewood Adornments
We love, love, love the idea of pairing concrete elements with natural wood finishes, and this unique log “window” is a great twist on that concept. Not only does it create a gorgeous talking piece, but it keeps the kitchen feeling warm and inviting.
A Wood Mosaic
Sometimes it’s the smaller finishes in a room that truly make it, as is the case with this beautiful installation that smartly couples marble and wood tiles.
Beautiful Bricks
We absolutely love this corner fireplace and all of its mismatched bricks. Not only does it add instant drama to the soft room, but it also helps draw the eye to the natural exposed beams above.
Natural Beams
This modern facade is balanced out by the natural beams on the front porch, giving the home a modern but country curb appeal.
Pretty Pantry
Organized pantries are our weak spot, but we absolutely love the simplicity of this setup. Clear jars are prettily displayed on soft wooden shelves, with lots of soft storage baskets underneath.
Pretty Chandeliers
These antler-inspired chandeliers remind us of Gaston’s pub in Beauty and the Beast, except they’re fresh and updated thanks to the modern kitchen island that they’re adorning.
A Wood-Burning Fireplace
Joanna brought the outdoors inside with this beautiful fireplace installation, which doubles as an art piece. The white bricks are updated and fresh, but wood elements like the mantel and the punched-out space for logs give it a natural finish.
A Natural Ceiling
We’re so used to traditional white ceilings that finished varieties automatically punch up a room. Sure they can make a room feel closed in if they’re too dark, but this soft wood finish is all natural glam.
An Arched Ceiling
Shiplap and wood finishes are kind of Joanna’s thing, but it looks especially pretty on this cathedral ceiling when paired with a heavier chandelier.
Finishing Details
We aren’t sure what we love more: this customized coffee table with carved wood letters, or the fact that it ties into the wood shutter windows above. Either way when paired with this textured hardwood floor this is a beautifully crafted space.
The Great Indoors
There are plenty of rich finishes to love in this rustic living room, from the gorgeous hardwood and the antique hutch to the wood shop-inspired coffee table with its criss-crossed legs. The whole look is then softened with some lighter-hued furniture and an area rug.
A Wood Backsplash
This cabin-inspired kitchen has everything we love: a huge basin sink, newer appliances and hardware, bright white cabinetry and a gorgeous wood backsplash framing the oversized window.
