Earning more than $3.3 billion at the box office, the mega-hit Twilight film franchise told the story of a mopey high schooler named Bella (Kristen Stewart) who falls in love with a sparkling teenage vampire named Edward (Robert Pattinson) in a small Pacific Northwest town. Now, for just $350K, you can own a big piece of Twilight history: the actual house where Bella and her dad lived.
Movie House
“Live in a movie house,” declares the listing of this four-bedroom home in St. Helen’s, Oregon. Affectionately known as “Bella’s House,” the home was featured prominently in 2008’s Twilight when Bella Swan moved in with her police chief father.
Fan Favourite
“There’s a sign outside that says, ‘Welcome, please take pictures from the road.’ And for the most part they follow that,” the home’s owner, Dean Koenig, tells USA Today of the “Twi-Hards” who stop at the house to gawk and take selfies.
Vintage Living
The home was built in 1935, and boasts 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms within a generous 2,506 square feet of interior living space.
Asking Price
Given the vast sums of money spent on movie props and Hollywood memorabilia, the $349,900 asking price seems like a bargain to own the house that was once make-believe inhabited by Bella Swan.
Entering
According to the home’s owner, Dean Koenig, the film’s production team completely repainted and spruced up the house for filming.
“The house by itself is just beautiful, with a view of the river, and deer in the yard,” Koenig told USA Today. But the movie added a whole other dimension to it.”
Perfectly Preserved
While the home may seem to be dated and in need of a few modern updates, purists will appreciate that the home’s owner decided not to alter anything. “I’ve kept the house as it was from the movie,” says Koenig.
Original Elements
From the vintage light fixture to the well-worn hardwood floors to the wood-burning brick fireplace to the Craftsman-style glass doors, the original design features of the home have been preserved.
First Film Only
The home was only used for the first Twilight film, but the other movies recreated the house on a soundstage. In order to maintain continuity, the home was replicated down to the last detail.
Remembering Twilight
“[In] the scene where Charlie meets Edward for the first time. He’s cleaning a gun at my dining room table in my dining room sitting on one of my chairs. That is really a crazy thing to see on a big screen,” says the home’s owner.
Vintage Features
The leaded glass china cabinet in the dining room is one of charming details of this vintage home.
Original Kitchen
Painted in an unfortunate shade of green, accented by matching patterned linoleum on the floor, the kitchen also features a large bay window affording plenty of natural light.
Movie Memories
“You cannot convey what it’s like watching a movie and seeing people in the movie cooking in your kitchen,” owner Dean Koenig told USA Today. “It makes you sit up in your seat.”
Movie Memories
“There is a close-up shot of Bella standing in the kitchen right in front of a small square cabinet left of the fridge. My wife leaned over and said ‘Hey! I know what’s in the cupboard.'” Koenig told USA Today of watching the film.
Upstairs
The home’s second level is where its four bedrooms can be found.
4 Bedrooms
One of the home’s four bedrooms, this one features a large window looking to the outdoors.
Closet Space
A rarity in an older house, this space has been converted into a walk-in closet or storage space, featuring built-in shelving.
Bathroom
This bathroom (one of two) has definitely been untouched by any recent renovations.
Basement
The home also include this unfinished basement, which could offer a lot of design possibilities.
Local Wildlife
The large backyard is home to a variety of woodland creatures – but no supernatural beings. “There have been no vampires, no werewolves sighted,” jokes Koenig. “Just deer.”
Backyard
The spacious backyard features plenty of mature trees and assorted greenery.
Covered Porch
The covered back porch offers a picturesque setting for outdoor R&R.
