The powers that be at Pinterest probably know us better than we know ourselves, so it’s no surprise that they happen to be pros at predicting trends. From the newest neutral on the block to ceilings you’ll want to stare at, here are the biggest decor trends for 2018, according to Pinterest. Ready, set, pin!
Resort-Inspired Style
Create a vacation vibe year-round with touches of rattan furniture, a sprinkling of beach-chic accessories and, most crucially, a luxe, spa-inspired bathroom.
Marvelous Metallics
Go for the gold – or silver, bronze, copper or brass – by incorporating glam metallic accents into your decor scheme. Try mixing multiple metal finishes for the most modern look (now say that five times fast).

Statement Ceilings
Instead of spending the next 12 months staring down at our phones, let’s give ourselves a reason to look up. Statement ceilings – brightly painted, covered in wallpaper or featuring bold architectural details – are on the rise, and we’ll be craning our (tech) necks to admire them.
Bone Inlay
Beautiful bone inlay – particularly of the hand-carved variety – has the power to transform a simple piece of furniture into a work of art. Invest in a statement design or dip a toe into the trend with accessories like mirrors and trays.
Heavenly Herringbone
Some people worship the ground that stylish Parisians walk on. In our case, it’s more like the floors: Chic grey-stained wood in a herringbone pattern will forever have us saying “Ooh la la!”
Colourful Doors
Give guests a bright welcome by painting your front door an eye-catching hue, or liven up your interiors with colourful doors that’ll add interest to otherwise neutral spaces.
Patterned Plants
Plain green leaves? How 2017. This year’s most fabulous foliage award goes to patterned plants: think striped and mottled leaves, shades ranging from light moss to deepest emerald, and even pops of pink, purple and red.

Sage Wisdom
White’s all right and grey is always good, but the freshest neutral makes it easy being green. Sage is cool, calming, peaceful and sophisticated, so don’t be afraid to embrace this elegant, versatile hue.
Big Wall Art
There will always be room in our hearts for gallery walls, but this year, we’re saving our precious wall real estate for supersized paintings, prints and posters.
Camper Remodels
As air travel becomes less and less alluring, road trips have taken on a certain appeal that’s both nostalgic and thoroughly modern. And what better way to see the world – or at least the country – than from the comfort of your own tricked-out camper van?
Giant Knit Blankets
If this month’s Bomb Cyclone is any indication of what the rest of winter has in store, we’ll just order a slew of giant knitted blankets and hunker down ’til spring.
Horizontal Fences
They say good fences make good neighbours, so we can only assume the positive impact that chic horizontal slat fences, which lend an open, airy feel to outdoor spaces, would have on our style cred.
Perfect Paracord
Macramé? So passé. Paracord? We’re on board. 2018 will see a resurgence of durable, DIY decor inspired by simple knot-tying (think paracord plant hangers). Who’s ready to tie one up?
Garage Workshops
If your 2018 resolution is to finally clear out all the junk in your garage, here’s some incentive: garage workshops are suddenly trendy. Toss out the crap, organize your space and create a DIY sanctuary that’s all your own.

Boho Baby Showers
Boho-chic weddings might be on their way out
, but boho baby showers? That’s a whole other story. Celebrate mamas- and babies-to-be with piles of vintage pillows, heaps of antique rugs and faded florals out the wazoo. Trust.
