More than a year after his untimely passing, the world still mourns the loss of rock icon Prince. Meanwhile, the mansion that he once called home – located in Toronto’s tiny Bridle Path neighbourhood – is back on the market, with the white-hot TO real estate market driving the asking price up to just under $18 million. Take a look inside to see the home in which he spent his time in Toronto.
A Prince-ly Palace
During the early- to mid-2000s, Prince and then-wife Manuela Testolini (a Toronto native) lived in this sprawling mansion in the city’s upscale Bridle Path neighbourhood, calling the six-bedroom, 14,000-square-foot estate home.
Bridle Path
The expansive bungalow is located in Toronto’s Bridle Path neighbourhood, one of the city’s most desirable areas. Among the celebs who’ve called this area home include Shark Tank‘s Robert Herjavec, singer Celine Dion, convicted felon/media mogul Conrad Black and rapper Drake, who is in the process of building an opulent mansion there.
Entrance Foyer
The foyer is as grand as what we’d expect from an iconic, eccentric rock star, with a gleaming, patterned marble floor and Romanesque columns greeting visitors to the six-bedroom, 10.5-bath home with amenities including a pool, heated cabana and tennis court. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home provide plenty of natural light.
Lounge
A large sectional sofa – purple, of course – is set up in this living room/lounge area/media room, featuring a fireplace and flatscreen TV embedded right into the wall along with a pair of speakers for music enjoyment.
Hallway
The design of this long hallway, with its marble floor and floor-to-ceiling windows, allows the exterior light to enter the adjoining living space.
Kitchen Perfection
No shortage of gleaming marble in the spectacular white kitchen, with marble flooring, countertops and backsplash, even topping the large island that hosts bar-style seating. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a large skylight overhead keep the room bright and airy.
Casual Dining
A small, casual dining area is set up adjacent to the open-concept kitchen, with a small seating area nearby. More windows and French doors leading to the outside pool area complete the space.
Formal Dining
With its patterned floor and coffered ceiling, the home’s formal dining room is set up to accommodate a table that seats 12 (but could easily handle a larger group). Large French doors open to the outside while flooding the room with natural light.
Gorgeous Glass
This dramatic, purple glass sculpture was no doubt inspired by the symbol Prince employed as a moniker during those years he preferred to be called “the Artist Formerly Known as Prince.” The sculpture is on display within a bay-windowed area looking out to the trees that surround the estate.
Bedroom Fit for a Prince
One of the home’s six bedrooms, boasting honey-coloured wood flooring and more of those floor-to-ceiling windows. Doorways lead to an expansive walk-in closet and an adjoining ensuite bath.
Ensuite
The master bedroom’s ensuite bathroom certainly doesn’t skimp on the marble, which tops the dual vanity and the soaker tub. A large glass-doored walk-in closet and light-bringing skylight add to the spa-like feel.
Walk-in Closet
Just imagine how many high-heeled boots and purple scarves were once taking up space in this sprawling walk-in closet that once hosted Prince’s distinctive and ever-changing wardrobe.
Another Bathroom
Spa-style elegance is the theme of this bathroom – one of 10 throughout the home – with dark stone cladding on the walls of the partially enclosed shower.
Home Office
Warm, inviting and compact, this room has been set up as a home office, with built-in shelving and recessed lighting.
Prince’s Purple
While it’s unclear exactly what the function of this room is, there’s no denying the purple carpet and dark-toned walls exude Prince’s influence – maybe this is the room in which he worked on his acclaimed Musicology album, which he completed while living in this home.
Leisure Time
The games room, located in the home’s finished basement, features plush red shag carpeting, along with a billiards table, wet bar and comfy couches for relaxing.
Beauty Salon
Also located in the basement are a home gym and this salon-style space, featuring mirrors surrounded by lights and even a movable hairdryer attached to the wall. Prince obviously didn’t go to see a hair stylist – the stylist came to him!
Pool
The backyard pool is surrounded by greenery, offering a private oasis.
Cabana
Located next to the pool is this standalone cabana area, outfitted with a refrigerator, wet bar and French doors opening to the outdoor patio.
Tennis Court
Naturally, the home also has its own private tennis court, where His Purpleness and former bride Manuela Testolini would have lobbed tennis balls at each other.
