Step Back
You’ll never have to lift a finger to take care of your plants again. The new trending home decor gadget Dewplanter “generates clean, filtered water for your plants by condensing moisture in the air.” A dollar for every Dewplanter sold is donated to the Sprout For Sprout initiative.

Water This
This ain’t your average plant stand. With some programming, your new robot HEXA can move around your home to find optimal sunlight for your plant. It can also throw a temper tantrum by stomping on the ground when it’s time to be watered.

Breathe Well
This handy little device takes control of the air you’re breathing. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and monitors “critical indoor air quality components such as airborne chemicals (TVOCs), carbon dioxide (CO2), radon, air pressure, temperature and humidity.” And Airthings Wave Plus takes the tech one step further: users “can view an in-depth analysis of the air in their home and receive notifications when air quality reaches dangerous levels.”

Sleep Right
Wearing a Fitbit bracelet to track your fitness progress is so 2016. Now, it’s all about keeping tabs on your sleep: how much you’re getting, how good it is and what you need to do to make it better. Tech devices exist that can be embedded (no pun intended) into your mattress with sensors to track your heart rate, body movement and breathing patterns throughout the night – it then suggests bed times, mattress firmness and sleeping tips.

Dinner Tonight
Forget the personal chef; all you need is an automated oven. They can be programmed to know exactly how you like your roast beef and have it ready and waiting for you right at your designated dinnertime. Find the food you’re about to cook on the electronic panel, estimate its weight and then press go – that’s it. Alternatively, you can program the steps you’d like your oven to take, for example: (1) defrost lasagna, (2) cook lasagna and (3) keep lasagna warm until 7 pm. It’s like an Easy Bake Oven for adults.
Keep Warm
Heating and cooling typically make up half of your hydro bill. Investing in a small upgrade like a smart thermostat will give you greater control of your home’s temperature, which will not only positively impact your wallet – but the environment, too.
Bright Idea
Certain smart LED light bulbs can be embedded with motion sensors. However, these are not the blinding garage lights that burst on whenever a wayward raccoon strolls by: they can detect when you’re in the room and automatically switch on, but they can also pick up on existing light levels and adjust accordingly.

Eat Up
Gone are the days of magnets and paper notepads stuck to the fridge door. Smart refrigerators now exist with touchscreens where you can tap out grocery lists, leave family notes, play your latest playlist and catch up on episodes of House Hunters while unloading the grocery bags. It’s also equipped with internal cameras, which will send a snapshot of what’s left on the shelves directly to your phone so you’ll never be at the store and think “do we need more milk?”
Rub a Dub Dub
The sleek, minimalist designs of deep standing tubs screams luxury, but it’s the built-in TV screen sitting at the foot of the tub that’ll have homeowners bragging to their friends. These days, you never have to miss a moment of your favourite shows.
