Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
star Dorit Kemsley is trying to sell her house, and what a house it is: a three-storey, 6-bedroom mansion with nearly 9,000 square feet of living space. Originally priced at $12.75 million, the price has been reduced to $9,750,000 in the hopes of a quick sale.
Beverly Hills Living
Dorit Kemsley of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been trying to sell her Beverly Hills estate house for awhile now, enlisting top L.A. realtor Mauricio Umansky (a.k.a. husband of her fellow Housewives star Kyle Richards) for the job.
Reduced!
When Kemsley first put the home on the market, she was asking $12.75 million. After sitting unsold for six months, Kemsley and husband Paul reduced the price by nearly $2 million, to $10.95 million. It’s currently listed at $9.75 million.
Privacy Assured
A large gate keeps out the riff raff, while a steep driveway leads to the home within.
Fab Foyer
When it comes to her personal taste in décor, Dorit describes her style as a “blend of classic and traditional, yet modern and fashionable.”
Open to the Outdoors
Beverly Hills living at its finest, the sliding glass doors in this living area open to the pool deck for a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Eager to Sell
“The price was lowered to get it sold,” Paul (known to Real Housewives viewers as “PK”), told the New York Post‘s “Page Six” column. “We are very keen to move.”
Too Vertical
“We want a less vertical house with more of a backyard,” Paul told “Page Six,” adding that the couple’s children (Jagger, 3, and Phoenix, 23 months) are “running around everywhere and we have a lot of stairs, so we want to swap stairs for grass!”
Sell First, Look Later
For now, the plan is to stay put until the house is sold – only then will the family start house-hunting. “We haven’t looked yet as I don’t want Dorit to fall in love with another house and then me say, ‘Sorry, love, we need to sell ours first,'” Paul explained.
A Special Home
Dorit and Paul moved into the three-storey, 8,679-square-foot mansion in 2013, and she admitted to Us Weekly that it’s going to be tough to leave. “I’ve spent a lot of time fixing it and making it special,” she said, adding: “I know that this house is perfect and very right for someone.”
Oh Boy
In addition to Dorit and her family, another person who’s enjoyed the home has been frequent houseguest Boy George, who’s called the mansion home whenever he’s in Los Angeles. “I think when you stay in someone’s house and you live in their lives and you’re playing with their children and you see them as a couple [it’s different]. I mean he sees us before bed; he sees us first thing in the morning, and it’s not like this lunch date per se,” she says of her friendship with the former Culture Club singer. “You kind of get more intimately connected, and that’s definitely what happened.”
Masculine Style?
Boy George (who is also godfather to the couple’s daughter, Phoenix), describes Dorit’s decorating style “masculine,” notes Us Weekly, pointing to her tendency toward grey, white, black and beige tones. “If it was up to him, I’d have multi-colour rooms,” she joked.
Prime Location
Situated in an enviable, secluded lot in the heart of Beverly Hills – minutes away from the famed Beverly Hills Hotel, Kemsley boasts to Us Weekly about the home’s “great views” and “great layout.”
Great Room
The spacious great room is Dorit’s absolute favourite room in the home, featuring a piano that was given to her by Billy Joel.
Master Bedroom
This, says Dorit, is where she and her husband spend most of their time, joking that the huge master bedroom “can pack 25 people.” The spacious bedroom also features a private sun deck and toasty fireplace.
View From a Bath
The deep soaker tub in the master bath offers a spectacular view of nearby Century City.
Mucho Marble
There’s plenty of marble to go around in this bathroom (one of 7 in the home), featuring a marble-lined shower, flooring and countertop.
Closet Space
The large walk-in closet offers ample storage for the volume of clothing, shoes and accessories befitting one of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Kitchen Contrast
The recently renovated kitchen contrasts dark and light colours, with gleaming black marble countertops and black tile backsplash serving as a counterpoint to the white cabinets.
Modern Appliances
The fully updated kitchen boasts double ovens and a glass-doored refrigerator.
Divine Dining
Although the home boasts its own banquet hall, Dorit noted that most of the couple’s entertaining takes place in the great room and this lavish dining room, with two elaborate chandeliers hanging overhead.
Den
Located off the entry foyer, the office/den features plenty of built-in wood shelving.
Poolside Living
Dorit and her family spend plenty of time poolside, frequently enjoying informal meals on the patio.
Pool Perfection
The pool and hot tub offer an extravagant outdoor space in which to enjoy that spectacular Southern California weather.
