With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently welcoming baby Archie into the world, everyone is wondering what the wee royal’s nursery looks like. Thankfully, Modsy, a company that utilizes 3D-rendering technology to provide shoppable recreations of any space, has answered the question. Here is their imagination of what the new royal baby’s nursery might look like, depending on whether it was designed by the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton or even the Queen herself.

As Modsy explains, the Duchess of Sussex’s nursery style is “eclectic minimalist,” utilizing pieces that have “a casual, collected feel” within a space that is “styled with a curated eye.” To recreate this space, Modsy advises, “start from a neutral base. Find pieces that you love and create layers of comfort through neutral textures and patterns, introducing contrast. Bring in a printed side chair or rug for a bolder accent.”

“We wanted to pay homage to Meghan’s California upbringing and think her design style would emulate a casual and easy aesthetic that feels put together, yet effortless,” explains Modsy. “Slightly modern pieces come together in this nursery and are balanced by an eclectic edge in this dreamy neutral space.”

“We love the Pierre Dresser from Made Goods and think Meghan would too,” Modsy declares. “Its beautiful, curved design brings an organic feel to the space.”

“Another favourite is Wisteria’s Bridal Rug Settee, which complements the Pierre dresser nicely, adding a contrasting, geometric pattern,” Modsy adds. “The Carmel Hand-Knotted Rug from Serena and Lily is another call-out piece, as its soft pattern adds a warmth for Baby Sussex.”
Prince Harry’s Nursery Design
“Harry’s style mixes the shapes and colours of classic English design with more contemporary pieces and eclectic decor,” says Modsy of its imagined Harry-designed nursery. “We think Harry’s version of the nursery would take inspiration from more masculine, British design and nods to his polo days, as well as his known youthful, fun energy. His love for travel is reflected in the design as well. He’d definitely want to create a space where the baby is inspired to travel and explore.”

“We love the Safari Lion art from Anthropologie,” notes Modsy. “It is beautiful and really adds a pop to the room! The Ludlow Trunk side table from Pottery Barn is a fun representation of travel that offers hidden storage (perfect for all the gear that comes with babies and growing kids). We also adore the Berkshire Linear Pendant from Rejuvenation, which adds a classic twist to the safari theme.”

To recreate this space, use “rich and dark foundational pieces and layer softer texture and saturated colours. The pops of colour paired with the darker finishes create a more youthful look.”
Kate Middleton’s Nursery Design
“Kate’s design reflects her fashion sense: effortlessly tailored and put together with pieces that will always feel on trend,” says Modsy of its imagined nursery designed by the Duchess of Cambridge. “The design is contemporary with refined touches. Kate’s design for Meghan takes a fresh approach to classic, contemporary style. Kate is incredibly fond of interior decorating and would have gone the extra mile in designing a nursery space for Meghan. Also a mum of young ones, Kate knows the necessary and perfect pieces to include in such a special space. Kate has created a ton of storage space by flanking two bookcases on either side of the windows – these will be perfect for easy-grab items that Meghan might need at any moment.”
Kate Middleton’s Nursery Design
“We know Kate was quite fond of white wicker decor when she was creating nurseries of her own, so we’ve included hints of wicker throughout,” Modsy explains. “Overall, we love the elegantly practical edge to this nursery. It feels incredibly elevated and comfortably inviting. Notably so – the Hathaway Slipcover Chair from Crate & Barrel is a dreamy and plush accent piece that adds a great comfortable seating option into the space. The Channing Hand Knotted rug from Serena & Lily is another favourite, as it adds great depth and a pop of colour. And finally, the Hanging Rattan Chair, also from Serena & Lily, is such a fun, and unexpected addition to this space!”

What are some easy ways to recreate this space? “Look for coastal-inspired textures and materials, such as wicker or rattan,” advises Modsy. “Mix in classic pieces in your base furniture (dressers, cribs, tables and bookcases) and find a colour scheme that works with your chosen coastal materials. Here, we’ve chosen a gender-neutral, cool-toned palette for the space.”

The Queen’s Nursery Design
When it comes to how Queen Elizabeth II would design the nursery of her youngest great-grandchild, Modsy imagines “a fresh take on the classic English cottage style [that] takes inspiration from the English countryside. The cottage style in the nursery is sweet and inviting with elegant details.” Modsy adds: “also, if not obvious, any room designed by the Queen would need a Corgi lounging in the corner.”

“The Ellery Crib from Restoration Hardware is one of our favourites for this particular style and space,” Modsy declares. “Its circular design makes it accessible from all angles. We also love the Maxwell Armchair from Interior Define for its subtle classic form and contemporary comfort!”

The first thing to do when attempting to recreate this space, jokes Modsy, is to “adopt a Corgi, then look for foundational pieces with classic shapes and pair them with comfortable, plush upholstered seating. Mix rustic woods together to create a collected feel and sprinkle in a few eclectic touches, such as an antique painting.”
