Do: Layer
Layering your window treatments can add depth and dimension to any space. You can choose to layer your window treatments with blinds and shades, or simply various layers of drapery and valances. Start by selecting whether you want to go with a more formal look, or a simple and refined look. From there, you can begin layering to reflect your personal style.

Do: Change up the Look for Each Space
As each room has its own personality and style, the window treatments should as well. Change up the look of your window treatments in each room. Choose to simplify or embolden the look of your drapery or window coverings depending on the overall style of the room.
Don’t: Go Overboard
Avoid being too dramatic with the window treatments. Keeping it simple is often the best way to keep it looking up-to-date and refreshing. This will also allow more natural light to come into the room, whereas going overboard with the tapestries can limit the amount of natural light and make the room look smaller than it really is.

Don’t: Forget to Research
While there are gorgeous and cost-effective window treatments, ensure that you are choosing ones that will benefit the space. This includes window treatments that are great quality and long lasting. Do your research and be certain on what is worth the cost and what is not.

Do: Try New Styles and Current Trends
Window treatments are a great outlet to try out new styles or trends. Choosing what best suits a space is important, but sometimes selecting a current trend can add the perfect accent to a room.
Don’t: Stop at the Window Sill
If you’re hanging drapery, avoid stopping at the window sill. This can stunt the look of the window and give the illusion of a small, more confined and crowded room.

Do: Take It to the Floor
Be sure to take all your window treatments all the way to the floor! This not only creates the illusion of a higher ceiling, but it also ensures that the room doesn’t look dated.
