When a space in your home starts feeling outdated and in need of some freshening up, you don’t always have to renovate to get the desired look and feel. There are many alternatives to making a space feel like new again. When doing so, it’s important to focus on the features that make up the space. In the bathroom, the shower should be a focus, as it’s somewhere you can escape to, relax and enjoy. If your shower is no longer giving you that sense of joy, here are some ways to help you enjoy your shower again without breaking the budget.

Recaulk the Tub and Shower
An easy, but sure way of making your shower feel like new again is by recaulking. Sometimes, discolouration of the grout is caused by grit and grime; and spending an afternoon with a caulking gun to tackle the tub and shower can really improve the overall look of the space.

Invest in a New Showerhead
Another way to make your shower feel like new again is investing in a new showerhead. There are countless options to choose from. I’d always suggest selecting a detachable head with various spray settings. Not only will this update the look of the shower, but it’ll also add to your overall showering experience.
Or, Give Your Showerhead a Good Clean!
If you’re hoping to avoid purchasing a new showerhead, an alternate solution for making your current one feel like new is by giving it a good clean. After years of running water and splashy suds, a showerhead can get a buildup of grit and grime that blocks the water from spraying. This can lead to an unpleasant showering experience. However, cleaning your showerhead can be a quick and easy solution. Try a homemade remedy of vinegar and baking soda and allow the showerhead to soak in it overnight. It’ll guarantee a clean showerhead that feels like brand new.
Hang a New Shower Curtain
While it seems like an easy fix, it can make a big difference. A new shower curtain will not only make your shower feel fresh and new, but it can also benefit the overall look of your bathroom. It is a great cost-effective opportunity to try out new styles and introduce colour and pattern into the space. Selecting the appropriate shower curtain can also make the space feel larger – if you have a small bathroom, consider selecting one with large pattern or bright colours.
Add Some Greenery
To bring some life back into your bathroom, I’d suggest bringing in live greenery and plants to compliment the space. For inside the shower, you can give it a refreshing and spa-like feel by adding eucalyptus. You can simply tie it around the showerhead or find a decorative holder for it. Not only does this create a sense of relaxation and serenity to the space, but also has many health benefits. The shower steam brings out the natural oils in the eucalyptus that can benefit your respiratory health and decrease stress, in addition to other health benefits.

Put in Some Elbow Grease
The simple and most cost-effective way to making your shower feel like brand new is by giving it a good clean. A vigorous clean of the shower can end up making it feel new and refreshed. While it may take some time and a bit of elbow grease, the bathroom is a room that you have to be thorough when cleaning to eliminate any bacteria.
Buy Some Good Cleaning Supplies
Speaking of elbow grease, it’s always a good idea to keep some good cleaning supplies on hand so you can keep your shower (and bathroom) constantly feeling fresh and new. There are many must-haves to kill bacteria and grit and grime. I’d invest in CLR for the drain and showerhead, whereas Tilex will prevent soap scum and get rid of those hard-water stains in the bathtub or shower.
