When client Kristin and her friend Kacy brought their rustic, Western design ideas to the table, Jonathan and Drew delivered a down-home renovation with serious Southern style chops. From the hippie chic accents in the living room to the unforgettable kitchen backsplash, this Property Brothers reno is one for the books!
Time for a Change
Having recently relocated to Nashville, Kristin had been living in a small one-bedroom apartment before she decided it no longer suited her lifestyle.

When You Know, You Know
Enlisting Drew to help her find her find the bones of her county-chic dream home, the first listing they walked into Kristin knew it was the one and bought it for US $289,900.
An Open Concept Kitchen
Jonathan tore down the wall dividing the kitchen and the dining room to give Kristen the open-concept entertaining space she was missing in her tiny apartment.

Geometry Class
Jonathan picked out a white quartz countertop to act as a simple backdrop to show off the wilder design choices in the kitchen, such as the geometric backsplash.
Mix and Match Decor
Not wanting to appear too conventional, Kristin put “mixed finishes throughout the kitchen” on her must-have list for this Property Brothers renovation.
Multi Medium
From the butcher-block island countertop to the brass hardware and the green curtains to the lavender cabinets, Kristin’s brand-new kitchen is far from basic.
Mother of Dragons
While Kristin originally had her sights set on a black, dragon-shaped faucet, Jonathan went for a classic matte-black design instead, which ties in nicely with the high-contrast tiling.
The Mess Hall
Not having enough space in her apartment, Kristen had to store her beautiful dining-room table under her bed – now it stands front and centre in her new Southern-chic home.
Steel Industry
Since the kitchen was gutted from the floor (actually, including the floor) to the ceiling, new stainless-steel appliances were part of the total US $120K renovation budget.
Cook Outs
While Kristin isn’t much of cook, her friend Kacy, who came in from out of town to help with the renovations, has claimed the new stove as her domain when she’s visiting.
Stripped Down
Once a dark, sage-green colour, Jonathan’s crew stripped back and brightened the living room, refinishing its original hardwood floors and converting the fireplace from wood burning to gas.
Art Decor
Given a couple of cool options by Jonathan, Kristin picked out the funky art-deco gas fireplace insert, which is surrounded by bright white-marble tiles and capped with a rustic, rough-wood mantel.
Upcycled Living
Wanting to save on decoration costs, Kristin kept her old couch, which Jonathan was able to seamlessly place into the room’s layout despite worries about its enormous size.
Shelf It
Custom built-in shelves are set up on either side of the gas fireplace, providing the perfect place for Kristin to put her family photos and mementos.
Think Pink
While Kristin said she wasn’t a fan of pink – green and blue were more her colour jam – Jonathan managed to sneak in a couple of dusty-pink accents, which she actually approved of.
Peace Out
Wanting to represent their client’s bohemian, rustic, Western aesthetic, the Property Brothers nailed it with this rusty, steel peace sign accent.
Right on the Renos
A little kooky and a little country, the styling of this funky living room is 100 per cent what Kristin was hoping for with her Property Brothers renovation.
Real Ratatouille
When Jonathan and his crew began demolishing the existing master bathroom, they found something unexpected behind the tub – a desiccated rat.
Build It Up
Since this bathroom had obviously been neglected for many decades, they rebuilt it from the bottom up to make sure everything was properly plumbed and most-definitely pest free.
Shower Power
To save space but still fit in Kristin’s dream claw-foot tub and shower, the Brothers made the master bath a wet room with a glass spray wall and a drain to whisk away wayward splashes.
