The Love Connection Started Early
Brian and Mika met in the formative pimple years, a.k.a. as teenagers at Riverview High School in Florida. Brian’s mom, Ellen, is a retired music teacher. Keen to stoke the melodious gene, Brian signed up for music class but, because of an administrator gaffe, ended up in a girls’ chorus class. Bingo! There was Mika McGee – we bet she looked cute as can be. Brian obviously thought so: they reconnected in 2011 and got married in 2015.

Brian is a Total Softie
Brian and Mika’s chemistry is undeniable. They are goofsters on set and in real life. But this photo reveals a deeper truth: Mika is the tougher of two. “I am the biggest baby! Mika is always making fun of me” said a teary-eyed Brian in September 2019 when he found out their show would encompass a full season. Right before heading in to see execs, he said: “I gotta dry my eyes so these people don’t make fun of me.” “Why does he cry over everything!?” said Mika good-naturedly. Hmmm…. we can guess who needs the Kleenex during a sappy movie.

Mika is Super Into Fitness
OK, so Mika may lounge-test a tub before purchase, but she’s no slouch. The fitness buff boxes, runs, cycles and is a rower on a team. She even competes. “I’m never tired of being on the water,” says Mika. Her instagram handle Mika Makes Moves could allude to both her real-estate background and her sports prowess – at least we think so! And she has an artsy side. She’s an incredible singer, like she has legit vocal chords!
Mika Has a Sweet Tooth
Viewers, meet hot apple crumble. Anointed in caramel-laced ice cream, this irresistible dessert is Mika’s kryptonite: “This is why I work out six days a week, so I can enjoy life and eat what the hell I want,” she says. We hear you, Mika!

They’ve Never Missed Their 100-Day Deadline
The world of TV is filled with artifice. Majestic makeovers are seemingly done overnight, when really it took five months to install the kitchen cabinets. Brian and Mika came close to not meeting their 100-day deadline, but the go-getters pulled an all-nighter to finish in time. And the “big reveal” on the show is never fake. Homeowners don’t get to see their new digs until Brian and Mika are finished finessing it. And that includes the surprise gift – maybe a backyard or a kitchen addition – that the homeowners receive as a special bonus.
Brian is Quite the Maestro
Fans may know Brian as the knowledgeable house guy, who – along with Mika – can get down and dust-covered as he creates dream homes for Floridians. But he’s not just a developer. He’s had a career as an entertainment marketing manager and he’s owned a chain of gyms. He can sing, act and he plays piano, guitar and the trumpet. But does he serenade Mika when they’re alone?
Mika and Brian Have a Dog
The couple are gaga over dogs, especially their Lhasa Apso mix, Bear, that Mika calls “Bear Bear.” Mika is firmly in the “adopt don’t shop” category of pet ownership. He may be a rescue, but Bear is treated like a prince, often escorting them to the job site to make sure Brian and Mika are following code (read: dispensing bacon treats forthwith).

Brian Invented a Toddler Toilet Seat
Oh, Brian he’s always flush with ideas! In 2015, he went on Shark Tank to pitch EZPeez. The potty-training product is a toilet seat that – with a flip up – converts into a child-size seat. No having to put a squishy doughnut on and off the seat for Junior. The sharks didn’t buy into Brian’s invention, but it’s nifty. He came up with the idea when trying to potty train his now-tween daughter, Jade. Brian and Mika also have friendly toilet-paper-roll rivalry going: she likes the paper under and he likes it over (the sane method, in our option).

Brian is all about Work/Life Balance
Here’s Jade with Mika on Halloween last year. Brian marvels at how tall she looks next to Jade. “The highlight of my days recently are my bike rides with Jade. It’s amazing how quickly life passes by. Seems like only yesterday she was on her tricycle.” He adds: “I encourage everyone to take each day to cherish the precious moments like a simple bike ride.”
Mika’s a Sports Fan
Mika is a sport-o. She definitely knows Steven Stamkos from Jamie Benn. When her home-team hockey franchise Tampa Bay Lightning snagged the Stanley Cup this year she had this to say on Instagram: “Love my Tampa Bay. Thank you for bringing our Stanley Cup home and uplifting our community!” While Canadian hockey fans may cringe, we can’t fault her for her enthusiasm. She’s also a fan of her city’s football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has team socks to prove it!
