Get to Know the Cast of Rock Solid Builds

We met the cast of Rock Solid Builds in season 1, and we watched as the team brought exquisite design to the Newfoundland landscape. They tackled the brutal East Coast climate, and tough terrain, and showcased their unique and artistic style that has made Newfound Builders admired by Canadians from coast to coast. As we prepare (and get super excited) for season 2, we’re getting to know this amazing cast of characters.

Meet Randy Spracklin, co-owner of the Newfound Builders team. Randy is a third-generation builder, and runs Newfound Builds with his dad, Scott. Under Randy’s care, the operation has grown from a small, local firm to a major player in the world of builds and renovations. And while he’s all-business when it comes to his projects, Randy’s been known to pull a prank or two with the team!

Randy lives in beautiful Brigus, Newfoundland with his young family. He lives and breathes east coast lifestyle, and is often sharing his adventures and love for the salty shores. Here, he’s fishing for cod, and it looks like he went home with dinner!

Not only is Randy’s team passionate about the challenge of building on the east coast of Canada, they’re highly dedicated to preserving and honouring the classic style that Newfoundland is known for. Randy himself is known for having a truly artistic flair when it comes to his builds, and here he shares a charming vignette that’s a little bit vintage, and as cheerful as the locals.

Scott Spracklin (seen here in the hat) is Randy’s father and the co-owner of Newfound Builders. He runs the company’s custom woodshop, overseeing the design of everything from classic, period pieces, to modern one-of-a-kind masterpieces. He handed over the reigns of the family-run business to his son Randy, but he’s always on hand to lend advice and words of encouragement.

Believe it or not, Nikki Spracklin is not related to Randy, but she is an integral member of the cast of Rock Solid Builds. Nikki was a stay-at-home mother of two before following her passion for building and becoming a carpenter’s apprentice with the Newfound Builders team. Her spirit and determination are a constant source of inspiration for the entire team, even in the face of adversity.

When she’s not on the job site, Nikki spends her time with her husband and two young children. Like the entire cast of Rock Solid Builds, Nikki loves the great outdoors and is typically found exploring the true north with her family.

Paul Earle ( is Randy’s right-hand man. He can fix and build everything under the sun and has a knack for problem-solving on job sites. His creative thinking comes in handy as the Rock Solid Builds cast faces unexpected challenges, thanks to Newfoundland’s tough terrain and wild weather patterns.

The Newfound Builders team is made up of eight employees, and they all pop in and out through season 2. Here, as Randy puts it, Al “measures up” on the job site.

And Paul “knows the drill” when it comes time to hit the job site. These are just a few examples of Randy’s classic dad humour, and jokester personality.
