Mashup Halloween with Christmas caroling, and you get a holiday tradition unlike anywhere else in the country. Mummering begins by dressing in a not so fashionable disguise and visiting the neighbours incognito during the 12 days of Christmas. With a loud knock on the door and a disguised voice, entry is granted where you’ll be asked to perform a song, dance, or joke with the host attempting to uncover your masked identity. Once revealed, food and drink are offered before departing for the next home, where the process repeats.
