As HGTV Canada shows like Tiny House Hunters and Tiny House, Big Living keep demonstrating, the tiny house phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down. Clearly drawing inspiration from the tiny house trend, Wisconsin-based manufacturer Escape has unveiled its new Escape One, a minimalist cottage-style RV that’s sleek, spacious – and priced at under $50K.
Escape One
Escape describes its new 276-square-foot model – called “One” – as “organic, natural, zen. From the ancient Japanese Shou Sugi Ban exterior to the soaring airy interior, One feels quiet, traditional and yet timeless with the flexibility to be used in dozens of ways to let you fully express yourself and serve your needs.”

Escape One XL
Escape also offers its “XL” version of One, boasting 388 square feet and two sleeping lofts instead of just one.
Whole Lotta Pine
The interior is a wood-lover’s paradise, clad entirely from floor to ceiling with pine. Large windows let light flood in while also taking advantage of the view of… well, wherever you happen to drive to and park it! This space can be used as a living room, lounge, office, reading nook or even an additional bedroom.
The Price Is Right
Priced at US$49,800 for the standard model, there are a whack of options that can be added, ranging from beds to outdoor shower to stone countertops in the kitchen. Standard features include the large picture window at right, the kitchen setup at left, and overhead ceiling fan to keep air circulating.
High Ceilings
The high ceilings and numerous light-bringing windows add a sense of spaciousness to the cozy area.
Sleeping Loft
The staircase leads to this spacious sleeping loft located above the living area.
Ceiling Height
The windowed sleeping loft boasts a height of five feet – not quite high enough to stand without crouching, but high enough that you can sit up in bed without bumping your head!
Under-Stair Storage
As in any tiny house, storage is at a premium. That’s why the designers of this cottage-like RV have built in a large closet beneath the stairs.
Hidden Storage
In addition to the closet, there are a number of built-in drawers concealed throughout, providing even more storage options.
XL’s Second Loft Sleeping Space
The larger XL edition – which starts at US$69,800 – boasts a second sleeping loft, located above the bathroom and accessed by a ladder.

Kitchen
The kitchen can be customized to be as Spartan or as elaborate as you’d like, with standard items including maple cabinetry, deep sink, designer faucet and under-counter refrigerator/freezer, solid butcher block tops and upper shelving. Options include largeer appliances, smaller appliances – or, if you’re looking for extra simplicity, even just a cooktop.
Bathroom
The bathroom of the XL model, seen at the rear, features a 60-inch combo tub/shower, a large vanity with storage above and below, mirror, state-of-the-art Toto toilet, LED lighting, towel bars, vent fan, and storage shelves, while options include a standalone shower, additional built-in storage and jacuzzi-style tub.
